Range Rover Vesuvius Edition Sport 300 by Project Kahn
Vesuvius may remind some people of the Italian volcano that destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79, but in the automotive world, it reminds us of Project Kahn. A few years ago, the British tuner created a tuning kit for the Range Rover Sport called the Vesuvius which provided a duo-tone exterior paint job, as well as other tweaks to the exterior and interior. This package has led to a special edition 2012 Vesuvius Edition Sport 300 that, according to the tuner, "erupts with elegance." The price for this special edition is £69,875 - or about $115,000 at the current exchange rates. The special edition Vesuvius is painted in the same metallic black with "Vesuvius" matte orange roof stripe and bonnet stripe as found on the original package. The color combination extends to the black rubber sidesteps with an orange edge, the quad exhaust system finished in black, the front extended lip spoiler in orange/black, a grille insert in orange, and Kahn RS22" black alloys with orange stripe. The lava and dirt color combination doesn’t end there as the tuner has showered the interior of the Range Rover with a new bespoke black/orange RS leather sports interior with front and rear seats, a steering wheel with Vesuvius orange stitching, and quilted door panels. Project Kahn also refined the vehicle with machined vented foot pedals and Kahn exterior and interior branding. Land Rover Evoque cabrio in the works
Have you ever wanted a luxury SUV that would let you soak up the sun? Well, you may just get one that is fully capable. We’re not talking fancy glass sunroofs either; we’re talking about an Evoque convertible. LandRover is reportedly considering a drop top model of their new jewel and when AutoExpress talked to them about this rumor, they did not deny it. "A convertible Evoque wouldn’t be the maddest brand extension. It isn’t a totally crazy idea," a spokeperson admitted. “All I can say is watch this space. We’ve got lots of ideas for the Evoque." There’s no word about what will power this Land Rover convertible, but it will most likely be the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that pumps out 237 horsepower and 250 ft/lbs of torque. As for pricing, expect a base cost north of the premium Evoque Coupe Dynamic ($52,895). Competition for this cabrio will emerge from Nissan, who premiered a convertible version of their Murano SUV called the Cross Cabriolet. We are supremely excited to see how this new market segment develops because before these vehicles, the only full size SUV that had a drop top was the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This vehicle was made to pound the dirt trails as opposed to the streets of Dana Point and is about as elegant as a pair of cargo pants. The Land Rover would offer people the convertible experience combined with both luxury amenities and the practicality of a Land Rover. Who can say no to a car that offers you all that? Land Rover Discovery by Project Kahn
There has been a pretty busy period at the Project Kahn design center. Only this months we have seen lots of updates packages for model from Audi, Land Rover or Porsche. Today is time for another Land Rover model: the Discovery. For the exterior updates the tuner is offering an impressive styling package consisting of front and rear arch spats, front and rear bumper unit, twin mesh grille, side vents, L.E.D running lights, lowered sports and exhaust system and privacy glass. The final touch has been given by a new set of wheels, size 22"with simple clean lines, soft organic surfaces on the edges of the spoke and a purposeful mechanical center. For the interior the tuner is offering its clients the possibility to express their own individuality whatever they want. The tuner announced they can design a vehicle with an exterior and an interior to suit the exact specification of the customer. Tata considering joint engine development with Jaguar Land Rover
It’s been about three years since Tata bought Jaguar and Land Roverfrom one of America’s big top three - Ford - and now the company is thinking of taking the last few necessary steps to completely cut ties with the former owner. A new Tata annual report has been released stating that the company is considering a joint engine-development program with its Jaguar Land Rover unit. If pushed through, the new engine could cement the two brands’ independence from Ford. "To optimize the synergistic strengths between JLR and Tata Motors in India, an examination is also under way on a joint engine development program which would have manufacturing facilities both in the U.K. and India," Ratan Tata said in a recent interview. These new engines will be a big step for the Indian company, who are beginning to pick up speed with models like the Range Rover Evoque and the new Jaguar XK and XF. Our concern will be for future models which will need adequate engines to obtain proper performance numbers matching that of the Ford-built engines. Whether or not Tata has the ability to pull something like this off is still up in the air. 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is entering the 2012 model year with updates made to both the exterior and interior, but more importantly, more power and reduced emissions. The model comes equipped with a new ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox with rotary gear shift selector and paddle shift and, for the first time, gets a Dual View touch-screen. The Autobiography and Limited Edition get revised interiors and an enhanced design. "The enhancements to the 2012 Range Rover Sport will ensure this car retains its position as one of the most economical and dynamic high performance SUVs on the market today. With greater levels of diesel engine efficiency, lower fuel emissions and exciting new features, the Range Rover Sport continues to live up to its reputation for power and refinement," said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director. Now that Land Rover has unveiled a two-door Range Rover Evoque, it was just a matter of time until the company decided to offer a convertible version of the car. The decision has been made taking under consideration the huge success the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is already having on the market. However, the Evoque Convertible will target clientele looking for a more luxury oriented model. The Evoque Convertible will feature a folding textile roof and will only be offered in a two-door version configuration. Expect to see the same engines as in the fixed roof version under the hood, which means a new 2.0-liter Si4 turbocharged engine that combines direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing for a total output of 240 HP. Chances are the new Evoque Cabrio won’t be finding its way to the market until late 2013, or even early 2014, so don’t expect it to get here any sooner. Prices will start from about $50K. UPDATE 07/28/2011: LandRover is reportedly considering a drop top model of their new jewel and when AutoExpress talked to them about this rumor, they did not deny it. The release of the Range Rover Evoque makes it clear that land Rover is confident enough in the brand to shift their focus from its core values. The explosion of the most recent Range Rover models, including the sport; into mainstream luxury automotive portfolio’s has shown Land Rover that they can compete with the best on every level. No single vehicle matches the current Range Rover in terms of style, capability, and refinement. The major downside to must urban dwellers owning a Range Rover is that they will never fully experience its capabilities as an off-road machine. This is where Land Rover will attempt to fill a need with the Evoque. Once upon a time someone would mention Land Rover and an image would flash in my mind of a yellow Defender 110 trudging through some African jungle on a Camel Trophy race. Those days may be gone, but Land Rover hopes to enter the forefront of the consumers mind when thinking about mid-size SUV’s full of luxury appointments. The segment is crowded and includes big players from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. It seems that Land Rover has learned a lot from its Ford and BMW days and is poised to release its 3 different versions of the Evoque. It will be the smallest, lightest, and most fuel efficient Range Rover ever made. The term, “Range Rover” must be taken with a grain of salt, because yes Land Rover is tagging this new model as a Range Rover Evoque instead of simply a new line. Nonetheless, it seems that prices will fall in the $45,000 range depending on which model you choose. Head to Land Rover’s website to use the Evoque configurator and build your own. America’s Independence Day is just around the corner - it’s July 4th, in case you didn’t know - and instead of celebrating the day with the typical fireworks and barbecues, Project Kahn is hoping Americans will take kindly to their new "Patriotic" package based off of the 2011 Kahn Range Rover Sport. The British tuner hasn’t done much to the original tuning package, but is offering it with red, white, and blue exterior paint options. Aside from the patriotic tri-color palette, Project Kahn’s version of the Range Rover Sport comes with a new lower front bumper and a rear low valance. Customizable options include a floating or striped roof - painted in a color, style, and even flag of your choice. For the interior, the tuner is offering a never-ending array of color options, including our good ol’ stars and stripes. Customers can even opt for a diamond studded clock bezel. The package also includes personalized door handles, LED strip lights in the front arches, rubber side steps, calipers, rear spoiler, rev counter, speedo, time clock, stainless steel door entry sills, and a quad exhaust system. As for the engine, Project Kahn has provided a Cosworth engine upgrade that produces 300 HP with Cosworth branding. This tuning package isn’t anything to write home about, but if you have the extra cash and want to show off your patriotism in the parking lot as well as poolside, then we guess this is one way to go. | featured reviews:
