After debuting the new Altima at the 2012 New York Auto Show, Nissan is moving on to its next project by presenting a teaser image showing five redesigned models that will be launched in the next 15 months. During the Altima’s official debut in New York, Nissan also presented a short promo video that showed five new models hidden under a white cover.
Rumors say that the list of redesigned models will begin with the production version of the 2013 Pathfinder and a new Sentra. From left to right in the teaser images, the cars are: the hatchback version of the latest Versa set to be unveiled by the end of the year, the 2013 Pathfinder, the new Altima, the redesigned Rogue compact crossover, and the next Sentra that will adopt the same design language as the new Altima.
We haven’t received any confirmations for any of the models listed, but these are the best speculated vehicles in terms of Nissan’s history. Nissan has confirmed, however, that the new Sentra will be the next model unveiled.
After being teased for about six weeks, the fifth generation Nissan Altima has finally made its world debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The model comes with a completely redesigned exterior, a better equipped interior, and a choice of two engines. Customers will have to choose between seven highly equipped models with prices starting at a lower $21,500.
On the exterior, the 2013 Altima has received a new grille design, seamless bumper, projector-type headlights, muscular fenders, unique taillights, and a dual exhaust system. The interior adds some of the most impressive technologies, like NissanConnectSM and Advanced Drive-AssistTM Display, while other updates include a three-spoke steering wheel, wood trim, and metallic accents.
Under the hood, Nissan has kept the usual 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 engines, but the four-cylinder engine has been updated to deliver a total of 182 HP - up from 175. The V6 remains at 270 HP.

Nissan said today that it may halt production of its vehicles in Tennessee and Mexico because of a parts shortage from Hitachi Ltd.
The company has not yet decided to stop production as of now, Toshiyuki Shiga, Nissan’s chief operating officer told Automotive News. If production does come to a halt, it could mean a loss of 15,000 vehicles. Production in Japan will stop on July 14 to July 16 because of the parts delay.
The part in question is an engine control unit that wasn’t delivered on time. The supplier said that integrated circuits needed were not available at the time.
"We’re working around the clock to try and minimize any inconvenience to our customers," Shiga said at the launch of the fourth-generation March compact car.
"For now, we’re still gauging when and whether we would need to halt production in the United States."
If Nissan do decide to stop production, the first models affected might be the Altima and the Sentra.
The people over at Consumer Reports have just finished up a series of tests on a few family sedans. The magazine lined up the Chevrolet Impala, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, and the Suzuki Kizashi, which we just tested. After the miles and miles of driving and investigating were finished, it was the Hyundai and the Nissan that came out on top.
The four-cylinder Altima and Sonata both got ‘Excellent’ ratings from Consumer Reports, but only the Altima managed to get the ‘Recommended’ badge. The reason that the Sonata failed to get that badge was because it was too new and the testers were unable to determine its reliability.
The Kizashi suffered the same fate. As it’s new as well, the Kizashi failed to get the ‘Recommended’ rating, though it did get an ’Excellent’ score. Sadly, the Impala didn’t do so hot.
The downright awful Chevrolet only managed a ‘Good’ rating, though it wasn’t ‘Recommended’ despite its age. The testers didn’t like its fuel economy, clumsy 19th century four-speed automatic, and the poor build quality. They also used the word "Dated".
Who in the world said family sedans needed to be boring? Whoever they were, they must not have driven the 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR. The new performance Altima is still a perfect family sedan and one of the best cars to drive in its segment.
The new Altima gets some minimal surgery and it would take a person with incredible eyes to find most of the changes. Yet, what Nissan did is make the car more aggressive and, we have to say, the 3.5 SR looks quite good.
Some of the new toys for 2010 include a newly shaped hood and “T-grille” that give the car a wings sort of look. A new front bumper, and what Nissan refers to as the “license plant finisher”, is at the rear. The taillights are some of best in class, with sharp angles and different colored lights. From the side, the new 17-inch alloy wheels help give the sedan a planted look.
Nissan gives buyers a few engine options to choose from. First, there is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 175 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. This motor is capable of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. This version of the Altima isn’t our favorite, as the engine doesn’t quite have the power to compete with the new Hyundai Sonata or the great noise of the Subaru Legacy.
The Japanese automaker Nissan has just revealed details about the 2010 Altima sedan - a model that receives more power, grows in size, benefits from new technology as well as new styling both inside and out. The 2010 Altima starts at $19,900 for the entry level 2.5 S version and goes up to $24,520 for the high end 3.5 SR model.
For 2010 the Nissan Altima’s exterior gets a restyled hood complete with power bulges, a more curvaceous front bumper and fresh metal on the bottom of the grill and on top of the license plate opening. The new car is available with either a set of fresh 16 inch or 17 inch aluminum-alloy wheels, standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) as well as revised interior fabrics and finishers. For those who are in the know, the old top of the line 3.5 SE has been renamed the 3.5 SR.
The 2010 Altima is offered with a choice of two gas burning engines; a 175 HP 2.5 Liter inline 4 cylinder and a 270 HP 3.5 Liter V6. Either way the Altima comes complete with all the latest Nissan technologies like: Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, BluetoothHands-free Phone System with audio streaming, RearView Monitor and Nissan Navigation with XM NavTraffic and NavWeather Real-Time Traffic Information services to bring your morning commute into the 21st century at a reasonable price.

In today’s world of fast-paced wheelings and dealings on the Internet, classified photos have become easier and easier to get leaked out to the public.
That was the case with Nissan’s 2010 Altima. Although the Japanese-based brand released a simple teaser photo a couple of days ago, that didn’t stop people from digging up photos of the car in its entirety.
And now – barely a few days after the teaser photo was released – a full-blown photo of the car has been revealed.
So much for teasers, huh?
The scooped up photos of the Altima has laid to rest any debate as to what it was going to look like, especially after the teaser photos didn’t do much to stir up our imaginations.
The Altima’s front grille has been completely redesigned while the headlights have undergone some revisions as well. In addition to that, the car’s bumper also looks a tad different from its predecessors, including those three new air-intakes. Lastly – and we can imagine that Nissan did this to make the car look sleeker – the car’s alloy wheels have also been redesigned.
Despite being prematurely beaten to the punch by scavengers of the World Wide Web, Nissan is still expected to release further details on the new Altima in the coming days, including potential sedan and coupe variants of the car.
