2013 BMW G650GS SERTAO

The BMW G650S Sertao was designed as a strong offroader which is capable to deal effortless with any type of terrain. Thanks to its capable ride characteristics the motorcycle is perfectly suited for everyday riding on either country roads or city streets.

At the heart of the BMW G650GS Sertao beats a 652 cc engine which generates 50 hp at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 44 lb/ft at 5000 rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at only 74 mpg at a constant 55 mph speed. If you push the engine to its limits and you’ll be able to reach a maximum speed of 105 mph.

These sporty specifications are combined with a similarly sporty design. The motorcycle’s body is painted in an exclusive color scheme - Aura white/Arroy blue while the luggage carrier is painted in black and the seat in black/grey.

2012 BMW S1000RR

Since its introduction the BMW S1000RR has dominated the market. Despite the fact that the bike is around for over a decade its engine output has remained unchanged and the unit continues to develop 142 kW (193 hp) with a weight of only 204 kilograms including 90% fuel (206.5 weight with Race ABS).

However, the German engineers have constantly improved the engine by enhancing the linearity and harmoniousness of its power and torque curves. The same operation was made for 2013 and besides it the bike also comes with an upgraded suspension which boosts its riding dynamics.

The company didn’t stop to technical modifications and has also made a few design changes. The tail section now brings a considerably leaner look, while the asymmetrical side panels and the centre airbox cover are also slightly reshaped. Moreover, on the top side of the panels, a new, telling identifying feature takes the form of two winglets that enhance the aerodynamic qualities.

2012 BMW F800R

The new 2013 BMW F800R is one of the most appreciated naked models in its class. The bike is powered by a capable 798cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve parallel twin engine which cranks out 87 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, and 63 ft. lbs. of torque at 6,000 rpm. The motor features 12:1 compression ratio, and is mated on a six-speed transmission.

The engine is mounted on a strong yet light, aluminum frame which is combined with a dual swing arm and a 59.8-inch wheelbase. Thanks to the low weight and the firm, stable chassis the bike has a perfectly balanced geometry and rewards its rider with superior agility.

The motorcycle is kept in check by dual 320mm Brembo discs up front squeezed by four-piston calipers, and a single 265mm disc out back. Needless to say that you also get standard ABS.

Other upgrades for 2013 include a new radiator side trim, white turn indicators, a sports windshield and a wheel cover in the same color as the body. The bike is offered with starting price of $10.840.

2012 BMW K1300S HP and Dynamic Package

BMW revealed complete details about its HP and Dynamic Packages available for the BMW K1300S. The HP Package includes a tasty paint job which combines three contrasting hues namely Alpine White, Night Black and Lupine Blue to offer a unique appearance. This 2013 HP limited edition is equipped with extra HP Series parts like high-quality HP Carbon parts for the front wheel cover, battery cover and rear seat cowling, HP rearsets for the rider and passenger, a beautiful Akrapovic sports silencer and a paddock stand. There are only 750 units available in HP guise and every model is also offered with a unique, numbered plaque.

On the other hand the Dynamic Package can be combined with any color option and is offered with HP gearshift assistant, Akrapovic sports silencer, electronic suspension adjustment ESA II, automatic stability control ASC, tire pressure control RDC, heated grips and an onboard computer.

BMW Motorrad announces new bike to mark its 90th anniversary

At this year’s EICMA Motor SHOW, BMW Motorrad President Stephan Schaller announced that the company will launch a new bike powered by a fresh air cooled “boxer” engine. The new bike will arrive at the beginning of 2013 and was especially designed to mark the "90 years of BMW Motorrad" anniversary.

BMW’s adventure in the world of motorcycles began back in 1923. Their first bike, the BMW R 32 was a strong and reliable model, powered by a capable air cooled 2-cylinder 4 stroke “boxer” unit which came with longitudinally mounted crankshaft and shaft drive to the rear wheel. The bike managed to gain a pretty good reputation and was especially appreciated for its reliability, built quality and the nimble engine.

The new model will host a series of classic traits borrowed from the old BMW bikes. The German manufacturer added that its multifaceted concept will feature an “emotional styling” and will be equipped with a series of modern technologies.

2013 BMW F 800 GT

BMW has taken the wraps off its new BMW F800 GT mid-range model. The new bike is based on the old F 800 ST and is equipped with a water cooled 2 cylinder in line, 798 cc powerplant. The engine is slightly stronger than the one found on the old F 800 ST and develops a maximum output of 90 hp at 8000 rpm.

The bike comes with improved ergonomics, optimised wind and weather protection and a useful luggage system. It’s also worthy of being mentioned that the load capacity was increased by 11 kg to 207 kg.

The bike’s cockpit features fresh dial faces for speedometer and engine display, while the handlebar switch panels and front brake fluid expansion tank are also new.

On the equipments list you’ll find Automatic Stability Control ASC, Electronic Suspension Adjustment ESA, ABS and an Akrapovič sports silencer. For the new year there are also offered new paint schemes and lighter wheels.

1934 BMW R7

The BMW R7 is truly a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that was introduced as a concept in 1934, but never produced. It did, however, inspire the R17 and R5 models. It was built during the height of the Art Deco movement, which is apparent by its very precise design that adheres to the standard mathematical basis of the Art Deco style, and is truly a pleasing piece.

After its conception, the R7 slipped away and was thought to be lost until it was rediscovered in 2005 and fully restored. It bears all black body panels with white outlines. Its wire wheels are painted a deep black to match the rest of the body. The body was like no other bike at the time, boasting smooth lines and fenders that partially wrapped around the wheels. Covering the engine are pieces of formed sheet metal to aid its aerodynamic qualities. Even the exposed cylinder heads are formed into a more aerodynamic dome shape.

The R7 boasts an 800 cc boxer engine that Leonhard Ischinger designed for BMW. It boasts a forged, 1-piece crankshaft for extra strength, and 1-piece cylinders and cylinder heads. Since the camshaft was under the crankshaft, the cylinders were positioned higher, leading to more effective valve positioning and even more ground clearance than the typical bike of the era. Coming off of the engine are two chrome fish-fin exhaust pipes.

This bike boasts a 4-speed manual transmission. Instead of the traditional foot shifter, the 1934 R7 boasts a car-style gear shifter to the right of the fuel filler cap.

There is no price placed on this bike, as it is a one-of-a-kind example that has never been sold on the open market. We are sure it would fetch upwards of $1 million at auction. We’ll never know, as its original discoverers are still in ownership and show no desire to sell it.

2012 BMW HP2 Sport

The BMW HP2 Sport has successfully made a stir in the industry, thanks to the racing dynamics it now espouses.

Of the many features of the HP2 Sport, it bears pointing out that the bike comes with an air/oil-cooled flat twin four stroke DOHC (with radial valves) engine that’s impressive by all accounts. The engine configuration also has a cylinder head cover made of carbon fiber with replaceable valve cover guards, a complete stainless steel exhaust system, a six-speed gearbox, a digital engine management with twin-spark ignition system, a double oil cooler, and a closed loop 3-way catalytic converter with oxygen sensor.

The HP2 Sport also has a slew of state-of-the-art features that will be a boon to its owners. It’s got a low beam headlamp height adjustment, an LED rear indicator, hazard warning flasher, a permanent headlamp beam, digital race instruments with 2D cluster, and an electronic immobilizer.

Last, the HP2 Sport doesn’t complete its package without the prevalent use of carbon fiber. In this case, the lightweight material is all over the bike, including the front and the rear, the self supporting body work, and the engine spoiler made of carbon fiber.

2012 BMW Concept 6

The new BMW Concept 6 has been described as an innovative, luxurious, and powerful BMW machine that has been adapted from the history and tradition of the BMW K-Series. The six-cylinder power unit on this motorcycle offers the kind of supreme and superior smoothness, refinement, and great power that has come to define BMW motorcycles.

Special for the Concept 6, the designers of the BMW Motorrad worked behind the designing and development of this motorcycle, while focusing their attention on the technical function and quality of the bike to give that emotional element of mixing man and machine.

The suspension of the BMW Concept 6 is built around a light-alloy bridge frame. It is accompanied by 17" HP forged wheels, which can be found on this motorcycle, and extra-large brake systems with six-piston fixed calipers. These wheels emphasize the bike’s sporty side, the appearance of the new machine, and the high level of technology put into it. This has all made the BMW Concept 6 a true two-wheeled masterpiece.

BMW R1200GS Adventure Triple Black

The BMW R1200 GS is already considered one of the coolest cross motorcycle in its class, but with the addition of a the special Triple Black version, the model became even cooler. Thanks to the Triple Black treatment the R 1200 GS Adventure Triple Black is without a doubt a true eye catcher.

The Triple Black model is finished in a tasty combination of sapphire black, granite grey and asphalt grey. Moreover, the seat of the R 1200 GS Adventure has a special and exclusive feature as it is available for the first time without the GS symbol.

The BMW R1200GS is powered by a flat twin (’Boxer’) 4-stroke engine, DOHC engine with a capacity of 1,170 cc. The engine is rated at 110 hp (81 kW) at 7,750 rpm and 89 ft-lb (120 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.
