The “199 Lives” of Travis Pastrana

Travis Pastrana is a daredevil that needs no presentation and it is very interesting to see footage of one the greatest action sport heroes of all times from when it wasn’t so famous, but as much as an adrenaline seeker as it is now. Get a good glimpse at the 199 Lives trailer and imagine yourself in any of the situations. How would you react?

Remember: Renegade Commercial from 1992

The early 1990s brought the Renegade series in which Lorenzo Lamas was an “outlaw” riding a motorcycle. Pff…what else could an outlaw ride if not a motorcycle? Well…probably some good looking chicks, but that’s another part of the series.

The point of interest here are the bad boy ads that were created for the movies and which still speak the story pretty well. So here they are for you to enjoy.

Brad Pit “spied” while riding his chopper to Walt Disney Studios

Owner of a $72,500 Ducati Desmosedici RR and of a 2009 Ducati Monster 1100S which he has recently received as birthday present from Angelina, Brad Pit apparently prefers to ride his chopper to the Walt Disney Studios, as seen in the video attached below.

Before I say anything more, it is a must mentioning that the guy should be left to do his riding and not be literally chassed all the way to his destination. At least that is what I prefer when riding and I believe all riders do so.

But now that we got the video, it is nice to see how Brad uses a hand shifter and enjoys revving that massive V-Twin as he waits for the traffic light to turn green.

Michael Schumacher crashing his Honda

Michael Schumacher crashing his Honda

They say no racer tries hard enough if it doesn’t eventually end up crashing, but we have no reason to question Michael Schumacher’s ambition as these pictures reflect that best.

Practicing at Sachsenring for the German Superbike, the former F1 champion skid the peg too much until it ended up crashing his Honda CBR1000RR during a high-speed corner. The funny part is the face he made while preparing to face the unforgiving test of the asphalt

Jeremy Clarkson getting into sense…on a scooter

Jeremy Clarkson getting into sense…on a scooter

Advise: If you’re heard saying “I’m not scared of bikers. If they crash into my car, they crumple and I go home” or, also referring to bikers “One day I will silence them by stretching a piece of cheese wire across the road”, it isn’t quite recommended to be spotted riding a two-wheeled vehicle, isn’t it? The mastermind behind these actions is Jeremy Clarkson’s, presenter of Top Gear car BBC show and declared hater of motorcycles.

The thing is that this picture not only shows him agreeing with the simplest, cheapest and most convenient form of transportation, but also makes him a total woos. A speed addict finds his way to motorcycling…on a Vespa scooter equipped with red gloves and protective glasses?

He even uses a communication kit that allows him to talk at its mobile phone while riding, something that tells us that he’s been doing this for a while. At least it won’t get caught speeding and talking at the cell phone in the same time.

Tom Arnold at the Motostars Exhibition

Actor Tom Arnold gives an interview to Joe Capicotti from 2Xtreem Motorcycle TV after just finishing cutting the ribbon at the Motostars Exhibition. In its characteristic style, the rider talks about its passion for motorcycles, how it all began and how it evolved during the years.

Presentation video of Lazareth custom bikes made famous by Vin Diesel in Babylon A.D.

Presentation video of Lazareth custom bikes made famous by Vin Diesel in Babylon A.D.

After seeing Babylon A.D and remaining hooked by the futuristic machines showcased in the movie I couldn’t help myself from being more and more interested in French custom bikes. But as much as I’d dig, one builder in particularly deprived me from sleep. Yes, you’ve guessed, it is all about those Lazareth custom bikes, isn’t it?

Made famous by Vin Diesel and the cinema screen, the bikes are best characterized best by their computer-controlled big supercharged V-Twin engines and futuristic design, often implying single-sided forks and swingarms. Babylon A.D. inspired this builder to go for the post-apocalyptic look of these streetfighters, which is an opportunity as unique as they get.

The video features the bikes as they are being tested, revealing an incredible sound that has nothing to do with a V-Twin motor.

Is that Keanu Reeves riding a Norton motorcycle?

Is that Keanu Reeves riding a Norton motorcycle?

Apparently yes. The photos were taken yesterday down Sunset Blvd. in L.A. just when the famous movies star enjoyed a relaxing ride on its classic Norton motorcycle. It seems that Keanu is an adept of the idea that motorcycles are made to be ridden, no matter their year of fabrication.

Dressed like an English man in…L.A. and wearing a blazer helmet and leather gloves, the Canadian actor seems to play one of its most enjoyable role yet.

Michael Schumacher to ride in motorcycle endurance race

Michael Schumacher to ride in motorcycle endurance race

It would seem that the multiple world champion Formula One can’t get enough of racing motorcycles. Michael Schumacher has decided to step up his racing efforts by competing in the 8 hours endurance race at Oschersleben, Germany (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorsport_Arena_Oschersleben) on the 9th of August.

Schumacher has been riding different motorcycles in different races, trying to get a feel of which type of race suits him the best. He has even gone down once or twice, so he is riding his bikes at the limit. He’s been seen riding on a Ducati, KTM, Triumph and in this 8 hour endurance race, he’ll be on a Honda. Too bad for him that Ferrari still don’t manufacturer motorcycles. The Ducati would be the closest thing to a Ferrari motorcycle, and he’s even had a go at Casey Stoner’s MotoGP bike.

It’s not the first time Schumacher is riding motorcycles; he’s a very passionate rider, and has owned many different brands. But it is the first time that he’s riding in races, since his F1 contract forbade him to ride in any other race that was not endorsed by the Lords of F1. So now he’s enjoying himself. It’s a hobby, a way to keep the adrenaline flowing.

There have been many rumors that he would compete in the MotoGP arena, but apart from the fact that it’s not feasible, he’s already stated categorically that he’ll never race professionally. The same applies to the follow-up rumor that he was going to race in the SuperBike category. Again false, denied by the man himself.

In the mean time, Schumi has been hired by German helmet manufacturer Schuberth to develop a new motorcycle helmet. So not only is he living up his passion, he’s also going to ensure that we remain safe in ours.<
