This week, the European capital of fashion, Milan, was the shooting place of the 2009 Harley-Davidson & Playboy pics in the photo gallery. Actually, the two big names have teamed up for a contest addressed to all Italian motorcycle owners being at least 21 years of age. These will have to register at www. anightwith.it and so have the possibility both to win a ride with the Harley-Davidson VRSC and meet Italy’s playmates. June 29 is the big day for the lucky winner, who will also end up in the actual magazine, which isn’t necessarily an advantage.
We know how small the chances are that you actually read this last phrase due to the tempting photo gallery, but we’ll have to say that this is just a preview. Harley and Playboy are capable of much more and we want to see it happen.
Those who have long been planning that one special motorcycle trip might very well start writing a 250 word essay describing their idea of the ultimate on- or off-road riding adventure, route and destination as well as why they’re keen on accomplishing it and on what riding experience they’re relying in order to do so. Yes, you’re supposing well; Buell will select a winner and offer him/her a brand new Ulysses XB12X, parts and accessories and travel money so that the respective essay would become reality. Afterwards, the bike is for the winner to keep.
Conditions required indicate that submitters must be legal U.S. 50-state residents at the time of the entry, at least 18 years of age and poses a valid motorcycle license.
Take your time and plan everything well because submissions are accepted until June 23rd.
Motorcycles will be part of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance for the first time this year. The event on August 16 will showcase British bikes, including the Legendary Vincent HRD V-Twins nicknamed “Gunga Din” and the John Edgar “Rollie Free” bike.
BMW Motorrad is in the process of gathering ideas for building new exciting motorcycles that would wear their emblem in the future. The best part about it is that they want your ideas and, apart from bringing a contribution to the motorcycle industry evolution, there are material prizes as well, the biggest being 2000 Euros.
All that an innovative mind has to know is in this small questionnaire that BMW put together:
The 13th Annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition Event Held in Phoenix, Arizona showed once again how skilful the guys in uniforms are in maneuvering those big Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Even if spending the full working schedule on the seats of their bikes, the policeman participating sure did their homework before signing in for the competition. Just take a look at this perfect run.
The Movito Electric Scooter is a green and yet fancy small two-wheeler that recently won NASA’s Create the future Design Contest. Tai Chiem is the man behind this innovative project featuring a carbon-cutting in-wheel electric motor located within a modular base that can be detached to form a two-seat vehicle. Most likely that’s what impressed NASA people.

All riders are very happy about their new bikes, especially if they had it custom made, but designing it yourself and ending up being the winner of your very own creation is indeed something else. Harley-Davidson has announced the winner of their “Build It and Win It” contest and made one lucky women extremely happy.
Talented Libby Hitchcock from Dallas, Georgia has used the interactive web tool and built her dream 2009 Harley-Davidson Softail Cross Bones motorcycle and it is now the lucky winner of the Build It and Win It contest. It means she won the precise motorcycle that she designed and shows how we all should give it a shot as soon as we hear about such contests.
In times of crisis, motorcycle makers would do anything just to sell and it seems that Kawasaki has developed an ingenious and unique strategy to promote their ER-6n in Europe. They launched the so called “ER-6n Design Competition” through which uncovered talents can design their own ER-6n and win one that was designed by Pasky of OCD Design (Troyes, France).
Everybody is invited to give it a shot. All you have to do is work your magic on a Kawasaki ER-6n pic (add different color schemes and graphics, modify the bike’s appearance like you would do to your own ER-6n) and then upload the picture onto http://www.kawasaki.eu/ER-6n/. Visitors will vote for the best (three of them will actually win a Kawasaki jacket) and if that’s your design, OCD’s ER-6n created specially for this contest will head towards you.
Pictures can be uploaded until April 9th 2009 so get on with the work.
