Being a Polaris brand in full growth, Victory needs to revise their models as thorough and as often as possible in order to maintain their ascendant trend, but the thing is that their models are pretty good already and so we often end up talking about some new color schemes and that’s pretty much it. But this is not the case because Victory’s modern American muscle bike, the Hammer, is in for redefining its class. With three models available (the Hammer, Hammer S and Hammer 8-Ball) and 97 horsepower, 113 foot-pounds of torque, no bad boy will want to stay away from any of these models for too long.
Spanish fashion designer Custo Dalmau has adapted the colorful look of his signature t-shirts on this Harley-Davidson Night Road Special modified by Spanish bike builder Ferry Clot. Their combined goal was to achieve a dragster-like stance and a funky paintjob on top for what they call the “Animals in the Wild” project.
The unique bike will be auctioned for charity by Harley-Davidson Spain and the money obtained will be directed to the San Juan de Dios Foundation in Barcelona, who works on aid and development in the African country of Sierra Leone.
Although Victory doesn’t have a classic cruiser in their lineup as a result of their sustained efforts of building modern bikes from all points of view and despite the fact that the Kingpin is sold as a custom, we dare saying that this is their closest thing to a classic cruiser. A modern classic motorcycle, if you will, the Victory Kingpin addresses to the fans of seamless lines and a big V-Twin engine, while the Kingpin 8-Ball stands out as a blacked-out version, but in fact there’s plenty more to it than just that.
We don’t know if people are gonna ride this bike around the bright Vegas streets or not, but we do know they’ll be accommodated in a much comfier riding position as a result of Victory’s efforts to make it a little more forgiving on the back and legs and so allow riders to take it down the open road more often. In fact, three Vegas models are available: the simple model, the 8-Ball and a Limited Edition claimed to be their baddest motorcycle yet.
We’ve recently been introduced to what we’ve come to consider one of the coolest café racers to lately arrive on the custom motorcycle scene. Originally a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP powered by a 60 hp air-cooled 948cc v-twin motor, this bike is now a veritable café racer, but still reminiscent of the late ‘70s, early ‘80s period.
Built in four months by Filippo Barbacane of Officine RossoPuro, this 1000 SP is now a better bike from all points of view: its aggressive new stance with the Tarozzi bars and foot controls make it an eye-catcher wherever you ride and the engine gets Le Mans 1000 cylinder heads and custom Officine RossoPuro exhaust system for a sportier sound and more power. Also, the suspension have been redone and the when it comes to the braking system, it all comes down to the custom Officine RossoPuro brake rotors and Brembo calipers.
The sad part about this Moto Guzzi 1000 SP café racer is the fact that only one has been built so far and it found itself a good home at Mario Natale in Belgium, but two other such machines are in the works, so go to Officine RossoPuro for yours.
The Skeletor is a truly unique custom made motorcycle by Vardenchi Customs from India and guess what. It doesn’t have a V-twin engine or much chrome to make it shine as it is ridden down the freeway, but its builder declares: “I’ve never got so many stares on a motorcycle before.” That is most likely because after hours and hours of hard work, the Skeletor motorcycle looks like it just rode out of a graveyard in a MJ-like music video.
The scary looking thing was actually ordered by a Mumbai celebrity and it took Vardenchi Customs three months to complete. It looks like the very demanding customer isn’t craving for an impressive horsepower figure, just a way to stand out furthermore from the crowd.
Based on a Vardenchi Classic, the Skeletor features the shop’s regular frame and two-arm-swinger, while the fork meets the frame at a rake angle that helps making it look like engaging in a some sort of attack position. On top of the original frame, this custom gets a bone-like look with a metal matte silver paintjob. Okay, this isn’t a prety sight in your rear view mirror, but it will sure let paparazzi know when their target is on the move.
Jean François Vicente of Vicente Design has just come up with a rather interesting kick-started single-cylinder custom bike concept that he calls the EFI SR400 Board Tracker. This is definitely a case of “looks beat performance” as the designer concentrated on delivering a low and sleek bike that proposes a closer rider-motorcycle communion by bringing it all down to the bare necessities such as the two large wheels, a motor and a bar to hold on to.
The bike would be based on the Yamaha SR400 and SR500 and it may look vintage but it has its fair share of ingenious design features. For instance, the seat and gas tank are made of the same hydroformed titanium sheets and also act as a beam girder for the frame, the thing has a carbon girder fork and also a hydroformed underslung exhaust.
You may have a hard time spotting it, but this thing does have a hard tail frame, while the perimeter disk brakes are the modern touch the EFI SR400 Board Tracker needs in order to stand out as an overall nice blend of style and performance (not necessarily horsepower).
The ck Calvin Klein Spring 2010 campaign ads have just been launched and we’re surprised to see the fashion brand introducing their own idea of a biker look with the help of stylist Karl Temper and photographer Craig McDean.
The brand’s fifth campaign approaches minimalistic styles that have long characterized CK, but the “gear” is rather girly, so I guess that’s why we’re seeing the custom-made bike giving the tone of the action in the pics.
The Yamaha R1 Rossi Edition is a one-off custom motorcycle that will go up for charity auction right after its customizers “give it wide exposure.” The bike was created by a team led by Don Emde, 1972 Daytona 200 winner and founder of US based fundraiser Friends of Riders for Health, to raise money for the official MotoGP charity.
It was an expensive project achieved using aftermarket parts supplied by different manufacturers such as Rolands Sands (the aluminum wheels), Akrapovic (the Evolution exhaust system) and Ohlins (the FGRT808 front suspension and TTX rear).
Valentino Rossi’s AGV ‘Five Continents’ graphics done by Pole Position Racing Service in Italy make it a “Rossi bike” and all these changes bring it much closer to the race track rather than the street but, just for the record, The Doctor’s R1 is also street legal.
Although the bidding day hasn’t been announced yet, Emde told MCN: “One thing I want to have in place would be the ability for anyone to bid on the machine, via online or some off-site methods. That would be something we would announce on the website, www.friendsofriders.org”
While Kawasaki discontinued their 1990s Zephyr 1100, the bike remains popular among those with an affinity for large-displacement nakeds and it even got a 2010 makeover from the Japanese tuner Moriwaki. The bike looks gorgeous with the dark blue/yellow color scheme, but this is one of those cases when the “more than meets the eye” part is what really makes all the difference.
This thing is powered by a big bore 1258cc inline-four engine breathing out through a hand made exhaust system and developing a decent 110bhp. While bringing in a new clutch and suspension, Moriwaki also fitted their latest idea for a Kawi Zephyr with a computer designed, aluminum alloy swingarm in order to stiffen up the rear end as well as make possible the use of a 180 section rear wheel and tire.
