KTM 990 Adventure Ice Special

KTM 990 Adventure Ice Special

We’re all familiar with the KTM 990 Adventure motorcycle, but how about this custom model that our friend Mike Werner from Motorbiker.org captured at EICMA? While the standard bike is adequate both for street and off-road riding, this Ice Special that KTM came up with for the motorcycle show in Milan looks perfectly able to take its rider to and from the North Pole. That is because it features studded tires, a crash cage and even microlights in the front, but, as surprised as you may be, this isn’t what caught our attention in the first place. The right rider side of the fairing has a map painted on it, showing that paintjobs aren’t just about looks, but usefulness as well.

KTM 125 Stunt & Race concept bikes for beginners

KTM 125 Stunt & Race concept bikes for beginners

The Austrians from KTM have directed their innovative minds to creating two 125cc concept bikes that will meet the demands of riders who are just starting out and yet not benefit of more than 15 horsepower so that they can be ridden legally starting the age of 16. They named the two bikes KTM 125 Race concept and KTM 125 Stunt concept and we have to say that both look more than decent for the category. Press release is attached after the jump.

Amazing KTM Concept Motorbike

Amazing KTM Concept Motorbike

If concept bikes are supposed to be windows of the future, this thing here is a veritable glass wall. Created by British designer Matt Williams, the “KTM Motorbike” not only offers a great view over design brilliancy, but also has the innovation factor to back it up. Featuring a hub-center steering system which eliminates dive under braking, this KTM concept should handle like a superbike, while the steering angle is much more generous than on classic motorcycles.

Although it is supposed to be built around a small frame and powered by a KTM V-Twin engine, we simply cannot get over the aggressive looks of this concept and the cruiser-like riding position that it offers. If we’re right, if made, this motorcycle will offer the best of both worlds: superbike performance and cruiser comfort. Ouch, that will surely change some things in the motorcycle industry.

KTM RC8 R McWilliams Limited Edition

KTM RC8 R McWilliams Limited Edition

This attracting sight represents KTM’s RC8 R McWilliams replica, a machine produced in a limited number (100 units) both to honor Jeremy McWilliams, KTM’s racer in the IDM German Superbike Championship, and to offer club racers the possibility to get their hands on a machine that looks like nothing ordinary (not that the stock RC8 does, but this is yet another step forward).

Apart from the cool new livery, the KTM Club Racer kit includes an Akrapovic EVO4 full system, hi-lift cams and datalogging. The total number of break horsepower reaches 180, which is 10 bhp more than on the standard model.

Street legality is always the sacrifice in the quest for more power and that is why the KTM RC8 R McWilliams addresses to club racers. Sure, you can always convert it to road spec, but what’s the point in buying it if that’s the plan?

KTM offers an enduro two-stroke trainer under the 200 XC-W name that stands for an impressively build motorcycle, always happy to provide an extremely accurate impression of what smokers are capable nowadays.

While the engine can be compared with at least a 300 cc four-stroke one, the bike weighs only 208.99 pounds without fuel, standing out as a possible blast. So where does beginner friendliness stand in this scenario? That’s what we’re about to find out.

KTM has a two-stroke enduro alternative for each of their four-stroke model, so while the 250 XC-W is comparable to their 450 XC-W, what’s the 530 XC-W left with? The 300 XC-W, of course!

The big four-strokes have been seriously improved this year and the much smaller two-strokes simply had to keep up. And to be quite honest, the premises are totally favorable.

Yet they did so and with excellent results. Now, we’re about to see how, in some cases, this bike stands out as an alternative for the 450 XC-W and even the 530 XC-W.
