At a press-event for Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment's Ghost Rider, producer Avi Arad announced that talks are now underway to develop a sequel to the action-packed superhero movie starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes. Seems a little premature, since the movie hasn’t opened yet, doesn’t it? Tracking numbers aren’t exactly a guarantee of success, but Ghost Rider 2 is coming.

Nic Cage is set to return as a die-hard stunt rider, by day, and at night, in the presence of evil, he becomes a guy who catches fire and fights evil from the back of a bitchin motorcycle.

Ghost Rider is one of Nicholas Cage's favorite comics; he is very passionate about playing the character and would be eager to come back for future installments.

I suppose there’s still room for them to back out if the first one fails when it opens this Friday.
