PEDCO. LLC is a Atlanta, Georgia based company which has recently teamed up with Mugen Denko for completing a common goal: marketing Hit-Air motorcycle jackets and vests in the U.S.

The time couldn’t be better as gas prices lead to a record number of motorcyclists on our streets today and the risks grow directly proportional with those numbers.

At its base, the idea is very simple, but must function impeccably. An apparently normal motorcycle jacket integrates an airbag system (around the neck, torso and hip as well as shoulders, elbows and spine) that deploys when the rider is thrown from the seat.

Now bikers will become one with their motorcycles also through a coiled wire. When suddenly pulled out, the wire determines an immediate gas release which inflates the airbags. It is a matter of milliseconds and it can radically reduce the numbers of deaths on the streets today. A few seconds after the crash, or hopefully incident, the airbags deflate as the gas is being evacuated through a release valve.

PEDCO's CEO, Rueben Jackson says: “Motorcycle popularity has increased due to high gas prices but so has the number of accidents. We were invited by NBC’s KFOR TV in Oklahoma City to do a feature story about the safety benefits of Hit-Air in April 2008. This feature story had the highest ratings of any feature story for that ratings period.”

Jackson completes: “We believe that the market for innovative safety gear is exhibiting rapid growth in the powersports industry and has equal value for the equestrian industry. We examined several airbag safety jackets and decided to select Hit-Air as our preferred product because of its long history and it offers consumers the best value in terms of product quality, ease of use, and attractive styling.”

And we’ll end by saying that if their products will actually sell in significant numbers, the days of motorcycling will become brighter and brighter, not necessarily accidents-free.
