The sun also shines for the 250cc qualifying practice defining the Italian GP starting grid. Riders extensively tested their bikes’ set-ups for dry conditions, which are also foreseen for tomorrow's race. Aprilia performed brilliantly placing two RSAs in the first two positions ad six bikes in the first ten.

Hector Barbera, on his RSA of the Toth team, got the pole with the time of 1’52”675, setting the new record of the Tuscan circuit. The Valencian rider proved to be very fast these two days, both in dry and wet conditions. He has got many chances of winning tomorrow's GP. 0”722 behind him is his country fellow man Alvaro Bautista. The Spaniard showed to have improved a lot since yesterday and to have found the right feeling with his RSA. Marco Simoncelli’s Galera and Kallio’s KTM complete the first row.

“I am very happy – said Barbera – I was fast and steady despite the weather conditions. I have a great set-up. During the practice we performed some adjustments that allowed me to improve even more. I need to thank my team for the great job they’re doing. It’s only thanks to them that I’m so fast. I’ll do all my best tomorrow in order to win”.

“It’s been a tough week end because of the weather conditions – said Bautista – and it was hard to find the right set-up. We found it on the dry track, thanks to my team’s hard work. I have a good pace. I could have improved it, but the traffic during the last few laps did not allow me to. I think I can perform a good race, let’s just hope the weather will be on our side tomorrow”.

Lukas Pesek, on his LE of the Auto Kelly CP team, got the fifth position with the time of 1’53”928, 1”253 from Barbera. Debon, seventh, is also in the second row. Luthi, who fell half way through the practice, is eighth. Mattia Pasini, who fell twice, opens the third row, while Faubel will start from the twelfth position.
