The last day of tests in Valencia for Aprilia

Posted on by 2

There was a big difference between the two classes today, on the third and last day of tests in Valencia, the final engagement before the IRTA testing at Jerez de la Frontera (starting on February 19th). No 250cc rider was able to improve his time from the day before due to lower temperatures and stronger winds. Yet in the 125, almost all riders clocked in better performances.

In the 250, Alex Debon was the fastest as he stopped the chronometer at 1:35.537 (his best time yet this preseason). He was followed by Mika Kallio atop a KTM (who didn’t improve his time) and Julian Simon. Behind them were Alvaro Bautista at 1:36.135 (who didn’t ride with a transponder yesterday), teammate Faubel just 10 milliseconds behind him, and Barbera in 6th. It was 8th place for Pasini, followed by Locatelli, Simoncelli, and Baldolini. It was 13th place for Lai while Poggiali opted to not use a transponder.

In the 125 it was Sergio Gadea with the fastest time of 1:38.390, again setting a track record. After him was Smith with another 1:38.985 and Talmasci in 3rd with a 1:39.800. Behind them were Derbi, Espargaro, Nico Terol with team WRB’s RS, and Andrea Iannone in 6th with a 1:40.008. Simone Corsi finished 12th as he fought through foot pain from yesterday’s fall while De Rosa finished 19th, Zanetti 23rd, and Dino Lombardi 29th.
