For the second straight year, the Aprilia RS 125 was awarded the title of Bike of the Year. Among those who voted for the winner of the “125” category were almost 94,000 readers of twelve different European magazines, among them Italy’s In Moto that preferred the RS 125 to the Cagiva Mito and the Yamaha YZF-R 125, awarding it 27.6% of votes. For the RS 125, it was the umpteenth acknowledgement of an unparalleled career, in which it has cemented its technical and stylistic leadership in the (...)

Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports heads into the 2008 season in the enviable position as champions of the SunTrust MOTO-ST SST class. “Racing has always been important to the Aprilia brand and winning the 2007 SunTrust MOTO-ST SST championship was a great accomplishment for us,” says Aprilia Brand Manager Rick Panettieri. “We are looking forward to the increased level of competition in the SunTrust MOTO-ST SST series for 2008 and even more exciting racing.” The road to the (...)

The meteorological conditions at Jerez de la Frontera were ideal for the last day of Irta testing. The sun, warm temperatures, and virtual lack of wind allowed the riders and teams of the 250 to try out various solutions and carry out long runs in the morning, while concentrating on pure performance in the afternoon session (reserved exclusively to them). The only hiccup on the day was Faubel’s nasty fall just five minutes from the end, coincidentally at the same point where Locatelli had (...)

The Aprilia Superbike, the bike which from 2009 will bring the Noale based company back to four-stroke racing, has been unveiled for the first time during the Piaggio Group Convention in Milan. After the success in the 2007 World Championships with Aprilia riders and bikes dominating the 125 and 250 classes (winning all four titles, a repeat of the 2006 performance), the Veneto company gave a preview of the eagerly awaited RSV 4 “Race Machine”. An extraordinary preview to a privileged (...)

With only a couple of weeks until the flat track racing season opens in Daytona, Henry Wiles could not wait to try out his new SXV 5.5. Mounting studded ice tires and safety fenders, Wiles battled not only some of the nations best dirt track / ice racers, but also temperatures that fell well below zero before factoring in any wind chill factor. The AMA Kold Kutter Ice Race Nationals are held annually with one race crowning the national champion. The race is held on a half-mile oval (...)

The season has begun for team Aprilia Off Road. It happened in Tuscany at Montevarchi (Arezzo, Italy) on Sunday, February 17, at the first round of the Italian Motocross Championship. It was a much-awaited event, particularly Cedric Melotte’s official reentry into competition (atop an Aprilia MXV 4.5) after a long period of rest due to the knee injury that held him back last season. The strong Belgian rider demonstrated his recovery by coming out like a lion in both fractions (which had (...)

Aprilia has made quite an entry with its radical concept named FV2. It manages to showcase what the manufacturer is heading towards and, as you can see, it does it with great success. The bike looks imposing and aggressive thanks to its Hossack-style fork, but it isn’t all about design, is it? The heart of this concept is a fuel-injected 1200cc, 90-degree V-twin engine featuring bore and stroke of 106 x 67.8mm. Delivering 134.5 HP and more than 10.5 kgm of torque and if we take in (...)

There was a big difference between the two classes today, on the third and last day of tests in Valencia, the final engagement before the IRTA testing at Jerez de la Frontera (starting on February 19th). No 250cc rider was able to improve his time from the day before due to lower temperatures and stronger winds. Yet in the 125, almost all riders clocked in better performances. In the 250, Alex Debon was the fastest as he stopped the chronometer at 1:35.537 (his best time yet this (...)

Unless that guy is preparing for the ride with the new Aprilia RSV 1000 R, I don’t see why it would be filmed all through this video. Anyway, enjoy viewing the new Aprilia until it will arrive in your garage.
