Benelli decided to relaunch an old, iconic grand tourer. The new TRE 1130 K Amazonas has received a long list of upgrades which help it stay ahead of the pack. For the starters it comes with a tasty design language and its sporty character is underlined by the dynamic fairings and the refined details.

As far as ride quality goes, the motorcycle is equipped with new damping units, fork and mono shock absorber, all featuring a more reduced length than the old ones. Moreover, the seat is now lower than the old one, which results in a more comfortable riding position.

Power comes from a capable inline three cylinder engine, especially optimized to offer a constant power delivery at all speeds, and decent fuel consumption. The engine delivers a maximum power of 125 HP (92 kW) at 9000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm.

Overview

A desire for freedom, open spaces, vast horizons. A desire for Amazonas. Benelli relaunches one of the great protagonists of the grand touring sport category. Refined in many details, proud of its identity as a motorcycle that can tackle any surface, the Tre-K

1130 Amazonas is Benelli’s offering to most demanding bike enthusiasts who are on the back of a bike all year long. The new damping units, fork and mono shock absorber feature a more reduced length than in the past. This technical choice has allowed the seat to be lowered, and as a result improving control and even suiting the bike to riders of a shorter stature.

The process of fine-tuning has also involved the engine: the inline three cylinder engine, pride of Benelli’s production, appears here in an optimized version with constant power delivery at all speeds, and fuel consumption for ultimate riding pleasure, while lowering the impact on the environment and containing costs. The maximum power is 125 HP (92 kW) at 9000 rpm; the torque is 112 Nm (11.4 kgm) at 5000 rpm; the compression ratio is 11.6:1. The modern electronic injection system with Walbro control unit makes use of generous 53 mm circular throttle bodies and is completed by the exhaust system with catalytic converter and oxygen sensor, which flows into a compact and racing-inspired tail pipe under the seat. Oil bath clutch and 6-speed gearbox are other features.

The designers maintained the demountable frame with tubular steel trellis front section, and a central structure featuring aluminium alloy cast plates. The upside-down fork with ample diameter (48 mm) legs stands out for its possibility to customize the response in compression, rebound and spring preload. There are also plenty of opportunities for tweaking the mono shock absorber, with adjustable hydraulic rebound damping and in spring preload and attached to the oscillating swingarm by progressive linkages that ensure the greatest traction.

The braking system does not conceal its racing origins, thanks to large diameter discs with wave profile (two 320 mm discs in front, a single 255 mm disc at rear), braked by 4-piston calipers in front and a twin-piston in the rear. The rims in aluminium alloy have different diameters: 19” at the front with a width of 3.00”, mounting 110/80-R19 tyre; 17” at the back with a width of 4.25” and with 150/70-R17 tyre. Seat height has been reduced to 860

mm to render control of the vehicle easier and more immediate, whether during manoeuvres, at low speeds or when on light off-road conditions and dirt roads. The dry weight has been limited to 215 kg and the tank capacity at 21.5 litres (4 litre reserve) ensures the rider absolute autonomy.

For 2012, the Tre-K 1130 Amazonas has been released in a new and sophisticated white tone with titanium frame (in addition to yellow). Some original non-standard accessories are the Tom Tom navigation system, frame sliders, racing filler cap in ergal, rigid and semi-rigid panniers and the motorcycle cover.
