A technical analysis of the SB8K model shows important technological advances in terms of construction, both of the chassis and engine. The most noticeable and striking feature is the radial motion of the fuel injectors that perfectly mimics the movement of the butterfly valves. This innovation maximizes performance by ensuring a perfect fluidity and consistancy of the power delivery over the complete rpm range of the engine, which leads to significantly improved engine performance.

The electronic engine management is carried out by a sophisticated ECU which guarantees the most efficient performance of the unit, based on the operation and load conditions. The ECU also controls every electrical system and immediately communicates any kind of problem to the user. In addition to these basic tasks, the ECU is also capable of handling different mappings, which can be chosen manually by the rider, depending on the setting of the motorcycle or intended environmet of use (normal, sporting or racing modes).

Approximately one hour of historic data concerning the basic parameters of the bike (like water temperature, air, speed, revolutions, and suspension positions) can be fully downloaded if the sensors are set up for such an application.

With a profusion of light alloys and carbon fiber, the materials employed in the construction of the chassis are the most advanced materials available today. Carbon fiber is used for the faring as well as for the construction of the fuel tank, which was built utilizing the same techniques applied to parts for the Motorcycle Grand Prix. Many elements of the SB8K are meticulously machined from aluminum alloy, a distinctive hallmark for all classic and current Bimota products.
