The new Brough Superior SS100 made its debut at the 2013 EICMA motorcycle show. The motorcycle features a retro style and was born from the collaboration between Boxer Design and Akira.

When designing the motorcycle, the engineers used only top notch materials such as aluminum-magnesium alloy and titanium which play a major role in keeping the overall weight to as low as possible.

At the heart of the new Brough Superior SS100 sits a 997cc, four stroke 88°, V-twin, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder engine. Fire it up and it will reward you with a maximum power of 140 hp at 10 000 rpm and 125 Nm of torque at 8 000 rpm.

The motorcycle rides on a set of modern suspensions which include a dual-wishbone Ohlis fork and a rear Ohlins Shock. It is also worthy of being mentioned that the front fork system is made from Aluminium-Magnesium alloy for the fork legs and titanium for the triangles while the rear swing arm is made of aluminium-magnesium alloy.

Overview

Brough Superior is also a legendary design, easy to recognise at a first sight. Coming out from the 20’s and 30’s -motorcycle golden age- the outstanding design from George Brough have passed over trends and years as a reference.

The design direction for the new SS100 is clearly an evocation of this, as the typical shape of the tank or others technical refinement appearing in a minimalist simplicity. The SS100 DNA is there, bringing a kind of Super Sport Classic regarding the rider position, engine performances and the High-tech equipments. A good example is the front suspension system and the small diameter brakes discs giving a neoclassical look matched with improved performances.

The New SS100 Design & Engineering have been made in collaboration with Boxer Design, a dream come true project as said by Thierry Henriette the manager. The Boxer Design team is keen on classic motorcycles and has always considered the Brough Superior SS100 as the best bike ever. Trough the Brough Superior project Boxer Design expressed its passion: “real motorcycles” in a modern way, facing the challenge of the SS100 legend rebirth.

Brough Superior V-Twin Engine

The new SS100 is built around its specifically designed V-Twin engine. Designed in collaboration with Boxer Design and Akira, it is achieving the dream of a Brough Superior SS100 fitted with a bespoke engine. It’s an 88° V-Twin of 997cc with cylinders integrated into a horizontal seal plan semi-dry crankcase. This motor is designed to provide great sensations through wide engine speed, as a bespoke engine it could provide from 100 to 140 hp depending on ECU settings following the customer request.

Front fork

The double wishbone solution have been used by Brough Superior as a technical advantage, which allows to dissociate braking and steering to offer precision and comfort for any kind of ride. The front fork system is made from top-level materials and processes as Aluminium-Magnesium alloy for the fork legs and titanium for the triangles.

Chassis

The V-twin engine have been designed as the main structural chassis component, it makes the link between the front and rear suspensions systems. This concept allows a nice and complete vision on the engine with good results in both lightness and stiffness. In this way, the steel frame is by the way reduced and he other structural components are made from Titanium trellis as suspension triangles and the seat structure. The swing arm in aluminium-magnesium alloy is fitted with a progressive link rear suspension damped by a fully adjustable Öhlins shock.

4 Discs CMM brake system

The new Brough Superior SS100 has an outstanding brake system from Beringer. This high tech 4 discs ceramic brake system gathers top level performances and design with better proportions suiting the SS100 neoclassical design (a nice kind of drum looking effect). The main features of the 4D CMM AEROTEC system: to reduce the gyroscopic effect and the weight while increasing the braking power.
