The 976cc, 101-hp Rotax® 1000R V-Twin engine is Can-Am’s most powerful side-by-side engine. This liquid-cooled, single-overhead-cam power plant features four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 54mm Bosch∞ throttle body and two sophisticated VDO Siemens∞ fuel injectors.
Better throttle control
This electronic throttle-by-wire system works in conjunction with the 54mm Bosch∞ throttle body to produce smooth delivery, even if the driver’s foot is bouncing due to the rough terrain. The iTC system detects unwanted bounces and filters the input. Comes with a progressive and sport mode.
When an engine breathes easier, it can produce more horsepower. So we optimized air intake, combustion, and exhaust flow. Larger intake plenum, high-flow heads, larger valves, increased compression ratio, and high-flow dual exhaust all contribute to this more powerful and efficient engine.
The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system showcases a Zylon-reinforced belt, a material with 1.6x higher tensile strength and increased belt rigidity in compression compared to a regular belt, keeping it cooler. A redesigned drive pulley with increased diameter for extra durability.

Innovative rear suspension
The innovative Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) rear suspension is a compact version of a five-link suspension for no-bump steer, and the lowest scrub for optimized bump absorption and tire-to-ground contact. Features a lower unsprung weight and 14 in of travel.
Other sport side-by-sides feature engines toward the rear, increasing inertia and tendency to oversteer. The Maverick engine is centered between the two seats, centralizing weight for more agile steering and easier cornering. The result is a nimble Maverick that is confident, powerful, and dynamic.
The electronically controlled power steering provides the driver with three different levels of assistance when steering. The amount of assistance varies with the vehicle’s speed to adjust the steering input effort to a comfortable level. Features Visco-Lok QE for a faster engagement point.
Exclusive to Can-Am, Visco-Lok is a progressively and automatically locking front differential system. The system intelligently transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the opposing wheel with traction. No buttons to push or levers to pull. Get progressive lock-up with no rev or speed limiter.
These pure-sport front and rear shocks feature dual-speed compression, rebound and threaded preload adjustments, so they can be adjusted to the different terrains. The 2.5-in diameter bore allows for greater damping force capability while allowing the shock to run at lower temperatures resulting in less fade.
Performance wheels and tires
Mechanical fastening makes it nearly impossible for the tire bead to break loose from the wheel during heavy acceleration or cornering. With 27-in, 6-ply Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires, featuring sturdy lugs and a non-directional tread pattern for a smooth and confident ride over a variety of surfaces.

Premium seating with a full backrest, lumbar and shoulder support, and side bolsters for lateral support during aggressive riding. Tilt steering and an adjustable driver’s seat are easily adaptable to a range of drivers and driving styles. No tools required.
The onboard storage consists of a 4.5 gal (17.2 L) glove box and a 3.4 (13.1 L) storage space beneath the driver’s seat. Convenient and versatile cockpit storage space so you can take your essentials with you.
Easy on, easy off
The high-strength, multipurpose rear rack works with the LinQ quick-attach accessory system, letting you easily install or remove a storage box, rack extension, bags, or other items. Numerous edges and holes improve use with tie-downs and bungee cords. Rack capacity of 200 lb (91 kg).
Standard anti-theft system
D.E.S.S. is the industry’s first standard anti-theft device. Electronic code in key must match code in ECU to start. The Maverick 1000R family comes with two different keys. One limits top speed to 44 mph, while the other has no limitations.
Upgraded gauge features state-of-the-art instrumentation, with an analog tachometer and speedometer combined with an advanced digital information center. Plus, the three-spoke steering wheel is outfitted with molded grips and a brushed aluminum centerpiece to add to the high-performance style.
