The Ducati Monster 1100EVO is one of the most capable sport motorcycles in Ducati’s lineup. The bike offers a perfect mix of modern technologies, racy handling and sporty performances.

Power comes from a two-valve engine which features a crankcase that significantly reduces its overall weight. They are produced using the same innovative Vacural® technology that Ducati previously applied only to Supersport models. The engine rewards you with a maximum output of 100 hp @ 7500 rpm and 76 lb. ft of torque at 6000 rpm.

Apart from its strong engine, the bike is also very comfortable thanks to its total steering angle of 64 degrees, an extremely intuitive and ergonomic handle position and the tapered and deeply sculpted fuel tank.

The Monster 1100EVO features a set of sport tuned suspensions which consist of Marzocchi 43mm fully adjustable usd forks and rear Sachs adjustable monoshocks.

Engine

The two-valve engine on the Monster 1100EVO features a crankcase which significantly reduces overall engine weight. They are produced using the same innovative Vacural® technology that Ducati previously applied only to Supersport models.

This method of production relies on vacuum die-casting, which improves the quality of the casting by avoiding porosity, air pockets and oxidation. This enables greater dimensional accuracy and higher ductility for the aluminium alloy. Ducati designers have drawn upon the benefits of this innovative process, redefining the conformation and thickness of the sides on the new crankcase using finite element simulations (FEM) and tests, which resulted in achieving the required reliability standards as well as attaining a weight reduction of the crankcase.

Chassis

With its slim waist and wide handlebars, the new Monster is the ideal bike for any riding style, in the midst of city traffic and in the winding curves. With a total steering angle of 64 degrees, an extremely intuitive and ergonomic handle position, a tapered and deeply sculpted fuel tank, the Monster offers the rider a comfortable and safe control of the vehicle at all times. The Monster 1100EVO further improves comfort quality with a comfort-enhancing new seat embellished with red stitching and 20 mm higher bar-risers. The Monster 1100EVO also features a rear sub-frame ready to support the confidence-inspiring Ducati Performance grab-rail kit for the passenger. The suspension set-up developed by Ducati testers is the perfect balance of handling and driving pleasure for all conditions.

The Sachs rising-rate rear suspension unit offers adjustable spring pre-load and return damping.

Using the proven ‘cantilever' system, the steeply angled rear unit compresses in a movement non-linear to the rear swingarm radius, thus achieving a progressive action. This enables easy access to the spring pre-load and rebound damping adjuster, while eliminating the weight of the rocker-arm mechanism.

Equipment

The triple-parabola headlight on the Monster utilises the latest optical technology and advanced construction techniques to provide an incredibly compact lighting package. In spite of its compact size, the headlight throws a broad and deep beam to provide excellent visibility and make night riding safer. Viewed from the side, its discrete silhouette mimics the radical shape of the fuel tank.

Visually simple digital instrumentation provides an array of data on command or, at a glance, just speed and revs. Information available at your fingertip include: scheduled maintenance warning, oil temperature, trip odometer, lap time, fuel reserve, warning light for low oil pressure, turn signals, over-rev warning, immobilizer and neutral warning light, ABS and DTC level.

Quotes

Motorcycle USA----"The torque curve on the 1100 EVO is fairly flat before it peaks at 5900 rpm and you can feel every pulse through the rather tall gearbox. On the freeway in top gear the engine lugs along at around 4000 rpm, which imparts too much vibration to the handlebars, seat and footpegs. Going down just a couple teeth on the rear sprocket would smooth the highway manners considerably. Working around the tall gearing in the curves is as easy as riding in a gear lower than usual."

Motorcycle Daily----"t’s the first air-cooled Monster to make 100 claimed horse at the crank—not bad, when you consider the six-figure NCR Leggera (which I got to ride last year) only makes 30 percent more power. That’s thanks to re-worked heads, camshafts and pistons in the Evo, and the cooling has been improved to bump reliability. The shotgun dual exhausts are new, as is the addition of the Ducati Safety Pack, which includes ABS and Ducati Traction Control. To make it even more civilized, the clutch is now bathed in oil (“Sacrilege!” shriek the Ducati faithful in their chat rooms. As for us, we really don’t get the appeal of the dry clutch, although it does sound cool at stoplights) and equipped with a servo mechanism to reduce lever effort."
