Over the years, Honda's->ke291 FourTrax Foreman series of 4x4 ATVs have proven to be versatile, effective both for work and pleasure. For the 2012 model, Honda ups the ante with their popular 4x4 ATVs, adding a brand-new liquid-cooled 475cc single-cylinder OHV four-stroke engine with a new fuel injection system. These additions not only add powerful capabilities to the Foreman, but also adds to the ATVs overall performance package.

In addition to the new engine, the 2012 FourTrax Foreman->ke3835 also has a new, rugged and tough looking body work with an all new chassis and suspension set-up that dramatically improves the ATV's comfort, precision. and handling capabilities. Add all of those elements together and you have a package that offers one of the best ATV rides on the market today. The fact that it's built by Honda is only another indication of the ATV's world-class capabilities.

Design

Large cargo racks at the front and rear allow payloads of 66 and 133 pounds, respectively, and come with an improved design for easier lashing of cargo. The new Foreman 4x4 ES also comes with a heavy-duty trailer hitch with towing capacity of 850 pounds, a unique, rear-opening storage compartment that allows access when the rack is loaded, and a waterproof accessory socket provides 12-volt, 10-amp power with a built-in fuse. The new Foreman also carries a water-resistant left-side glove-box compartment; a triple headlight system with single 45-watt upper light and dual 30-watt lower lights with multi-reflector lenses for optimal light distribution; an LED brake light/taillight; and uniquely designed floorboards that allow the rider to keep his feet firmly planted on the footrests while keeping mud and debris away.

Performance

The Honda FourTrax Foreman carries a liquid-cooled 475cc single-cylinder OHV four-stroke engine. A USDA-qualified spark arrester/muffler is constructed of stainless steel while a super-heavy-duty automatic clutch has been added for excellent driveability and towing capacity. A five-speed transmission has also been added while a maintenance-free shaft drive with torque-sensing front differential routes power directly from the longitudinally mounted engine without having any of the inefficient directional changes. To go with the 475cc engine, the Foreman also features a oowerful 416-watt AC generator with a new and pre-filled GYZ16H 16-Ah battery.

Brakes and Suspension

An independent double-wishbone front suspension that has been fitted to the Foreman uses new, high-quality shock absorbers to provide 6.7" of travel while a new steel swingarm design produces 6.9" of rear wheel travel. Large 196mm dual front hydraulic disc-brakes come with dual front disc-brake calipers feature a patented built-in scraper system to remove mud and snow from inside the front wheel to help prevent buildup between caliper and rim to ensure consistent braking performance. The brake pads feature a thick, long-wear material with improved mud durability, feel and control.
