The Honda FourTrax Recon was created from Honda’s desire to build a compact, efficient and tough ATV. Moreover, the Honda FourTrax Recon is also pretty cheap as it comes at pretty affordable price rated at $3949.
In terms of power the Honda FourTrax Recon is equipped with a 229cc, air cooled, OHV longitudinally, mounted, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine which is linked to a five speed transmission with reverse mode. There is also available the optional Electric Shift Program (ESP) technology that lets you shift using two handlebar-mounted buttons.
In its off road adventures, the Honda FourTrax Recon is also helped by a set of rugged suspensions. Up front you’ll find an independent double wishbone setup (5.1 inches travel), while out back there is swingarm with single shock (4.9 inches travel).
The stopping power is assured by front and rear drum brakes.

Overview
These days, you have to look hard at every dollar you spend. But there’s a difference between being just being cheap and smart with your money. And smart riders know that when it comes to value, Honda’s Recon is a great investment. Sure, it has an attractive price. But it also offers something nobody else can: Honda quality. And it still has plenty of features too: Its compact size and footprint let it tackle tight trails larger ATVs might find impassable. You get rugged, reliable 2WD performance second to none. And we even have two models to choose from: Our standard Recon comes with a conventional foot-shift ATV transmission, while the Recon ES features our Electric Shift Program (ESP) technology that lets you shift using two convenient handlebar-mounted buttons.
Like all Honda utility ATVs, the Recon features a strong, longitudinal single-cylinder engine, for a lower center of gravity that allows for a low seat without sacrificing ground clearance. It also uses shaft final drive, for mile after mile of reliable, trouble-free operation. Because the Recon is an agile 2-wheel-drive model, light steering and nearly effortless handling are standard equipment. Yes, the Recon is light and compact. But its eager engine makes it surprisingly strong in performance—just what you'd expect from a Honda.
Electric Shift Program (ESP)
Flicking between gears should always be this easy. With Honda's available unique ESP system (ES models only), up- and downshifting is as simple and fast as pushing one of two handlebar-mounted buttons. ESP is also a bonus when riding in heavy or mud/snow-covered boots.
Steel Cargo Racks
Front and rear steel cargo racks allow payloads of 33 and 66 pounds, respectively.
LED Taillight and Brakelight
LED taillight and brakelight for durable, long-lasting lighting.
Semi-dry-sump Engine Design
Compact and lighter-weight, the Recon's semi-dry sump and overhead valve designs create an engine that's not only shorter from top to bottom, but one that enhances handling by lowering the center of gravity while increasing ground clearance as well.
Uniquely Designed Floorboards
Both the Recon and Recon ES have uniquely designed floorboards, which allow the rider's feet to grip the footrests while keeping away mud and debris.
