The 2013 Honda NSC50R is a sporty scooter powered by a 50 cc, four stroke unit. The engine delivers a maximum power of 2.59 kW at 8,250 rpm with 3.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm and its power is sent to the ground though an automatic transmission.

Like any respectable scooter built for city riding, the Honda NSC50R features an ergonomic design and puts the rider’s comfort on the first place.

Therefore you are met by a comfortable seat which covers a pretty spacious storage area, an ergonomic handlebar and a set of big foot rests.

The 2013 Honda NSC50R features a stiff steel underbone frame and rides on 5 spoke aluminum wheels shod in 14-inch tyres.

The stopping power is assured by Honda's CBS (Combined Braking System), which links the front hydraulic disc brake to the rear drum.

Press Release

A sporty new 50cc scooter, with an extremely efficient four-stroke engine, CBS braking system and sports-focused body design, bringing a unique presence and attitude to the street.

Competition is fierce throughout Europe in the 50cc scooter arena. A scooter needs to have it all - an affordable purchase price, striking design, low running costs and usable, useful performance. Excellent reliability, durability and build quality are also desired.

Mixing Honda build quality - plus six decades of manufacturing experience and engineering know-how - with a crisp, cutting-edge design has created, in the NSC50R, an affordable, highly efficient scooter that looks great, works incredibly well for the commute to school, college or the workplace, and will last.

The NSC50R is a new 50cc scooter designed to attract young newcomers to 2 wheeled transport with its combination of fuel economy, Honda build quality, security provided by Honda’s Combined Braking System, and stylish, aggressive looks. The machine is available in Pearl White, Grey Metallic and a Repsol colour scheme based on the Repsol Honda MotoGP machine.

The NSC50R has a sculpted body, a mixture of curves, angles and surfaces that lend it a unique presence on the street. Underneath, its air-cooled 49cc four-stroke engine beats out instant twist-and-go usability, and class-leading environmental performance thanks to highly efficient fuel economy. It can cover 50km (31.1 miles) on just one litre of fuel in normal use giving a great range from the 5.5L fuel tank, and the large, lockable under seat compartment will take a full face helmet.

Its steel underbone frame provides strength and confident handling, while 14-inch tyres, on 5-spoke aluminium wheels, provide stability. An extra layer of safety is added by Honda's CBS (Combined Braking System), linking the front hydraulic disc brake to the drum rear.

Fun, frugal and undeniably cool, the NSC50R is the perfect way to get mobile, and get out there.

Chassis

Style to spare; the NSC50R has a look that stands out from the crowd. It starts with a pair of projector headlights, and flows all the way back to the LED rear light. The combination of organic lines and chiseled, sporty angles demand - and get - attention.

And, while the NSC50R's style is obvious, so too is its substance and quality. The red stitching on the seat complements the red spring on the single rear shock, and the two-tone muffler protector adds class.

A tubular steel underbone frame provides the strength needed for precise, and confident, handling plus the durability required for years of day-to-day urban use. Hydraulic telescopic front forks deliver compliant suspension, perfect for soaking up rough roads, and the lightweight 14-inch cast aluminium wheels - wearing 80/90-14 front and 90/90-14 rear tyres - add reassuring stability. A sidestand is available as an optional accessory.

Excellent wind and weather protection is provided by the front fairing, and two inner compartments provide space for drinks bottles and sundries. A large, lockable compartment under the seat is ready to take small items, or even a full-face helmet, for extra practicality.

The NSC50R has been designed to be easy to ride, by anybody. Nimble steering geometry, with rake and trail of 26.5°/83.1mm, and low kerb weight of 105.2kg, makes light work of nipping through tight traffic, while the low 760mm seat height means reaching the floor is easy. The wheelbase, at 1256mm, allows room to move around, and plenty of space for a pillion. Comfort for one, or two, people is excellent, thanks to the broad, ergonomically shaped seat. Aluminium footpegs tuck away neatly when not needed for a passenger.

The front 220mm disc is linked to the rear 130mm drum brake via CBS. The rear brake lever, on the left handlebar, also operates the front brake; the front brake lever, on the right handlebar, operates only the front brake. This provides an extra layer of safety, and confidence, in a fast-stop situation where many people panic and use the rear brake alone.

The NSC50R will be available in three colour options: Boss Grey Metallic, Pearl White and a stunning (and highly desirable) MotoGP-inspired Repsol Honda paint scheme.

Engine

The NSC50R uses a compact air-cooled, PGM-FI fuel-injected, four-stroke two-valve SOHC 49cc single-cylinder engine, with a bore and stroke of 37.8mm x 44mm and compression ratio of 10.1:1. By choosing air-cooling the weight, complexity and cost of liquid-cooling has been saved, while a focus on internal friction reduction and combustion efficiency provides outstanding real-world performance - just what you need to deal safely with traffic in an urban environment - and great fuel economy.

Maximum power output is 2.59Kw @ 8,250rpm with 3.5Nm torque available at 7,000rpm. An automatic, centrifugal clutch transmits drive via a V-MATIC belt.

Delivering class-leading environmental efficiency from excellent fuel economy was a key goal for the NSC50R. This has been achieved; fuel consumption is 49.8km/l (140.7mpg) in ECE R47 mode, giving a 273km (169.6 miles) range from the 5.5L fuel tank. A tri-metal catalyser is used in the exhaust system, reducing harmful gas emissions to levels comfortably below EURO 3 requirements.
