Overview

Husqvarna Motorcycles is also offering a highly competitive machine to race in the motocross MX2 class in the form of the 2013 model TC250R. Drawing on the brand's MX2 World Championship experience, the development engineers at Husqvarna Motorcycles succeeded in incorporating a raft of technical improvements into series production to give the TC250R even more punch. Just as on the enduro and cross-country models, the advances to the engine are documented by the “R” tagged onto the model name.

Improved powerplant

The engine form last year received additional improvements. A new cooling system secures a constant working temperature, the magnet in the crankcase catches small iron parts which makes the whole engine more reliable. Additionally an improved throttlebody allowed to delete the hot-start-lever from the handlebar.

More usability

The new TC250R also comes with more serial equipment which improve the usability. The handlebar protector improves the safety of the rider, the new softer handgrips are now glued on the handlebar which makes it almost impossible to lose them. Also the final drive received improvements with a complete new designed chain giude.

Verdict

Husqvarna is certainly using a pretty aggressive strategy to conquer the 250 cc class. Its 2013 TC250R has a pretty tasty pedigree and on top of that, its low $ 7,199 price tag makes it one of the best deals from the market.

With a weight of only 22.7 pounds the 2013 TC250R is also very light. This low weight is combined with a quick handling and the result is a very capable motocross bike.

Husqvarna’s motorcycles have always offered top notch performances in terms of ride, handling and agility, but their only fault was the fact that they were a bit under-powered.

Luckily, the company’s technicians decided that it’s time for some changes and in 2012, they’ve introduced the Red Head engine together with a fresh chassis. The wave of upgrades continued in 2013 with the addition of an upgraded Keihin Electronic Fuel injection system and capacitor. The list of improvements didn’t stop here and the new version is certainly the best TC250R ever.
