There's a reason why the KTM 1190 RC8 R Track->ke3147 is being built in strictly limited numbers for those who want to use their machine exclusively for the racetrack.

Built to be "ready to race" by the KTM->ke1954 Racing Division and packed with all the goodies from the KTM PowerParts range that make the potential for race success even greater, the 1190 RC8 R Track is equipped with everything that has made KTM super bikes so successful then, now, and in the future.

The forged piston structure on the RC8 R Track, borrowed from Formula 1, results in a high piston loading capacity, despite the extremely short and lightweight design. This allows the reciprocating weight to be minimized and the responsiveness and free-revving nature of the engine maximized. It also has a racing seat, a multiple-adjustment racing footrest system, and handlebars that can be mounted at two heights and two angles, with subframes mounted at two heights.

The RC8 R Track is the embodiment of a sports bike that packs plenty of punch, courtesy of its 1190cc V-Twin engine that produces a very tasty 177 horsepower. Considered the measure stick of all things for ultra-sporty twins, the RC8 R Track offers maximum performance, predictable characteristics, and high reliability. The KTM engine impresses with an extremely broad rev range and spontaneous throttle response, while supplying supreme ride quality. It also carries an Akrapovic titanium EVO 4 exhaust system that produces optimum torque levels and power progression, to go with weight savings of almost six kilograms. The main reasons for the outstanding performance of the RC8 R Track’s V-twin with 75° cylinder angle are the ultra-modern cylinder heads with flow-optimized ducts and cam follower drive, each with two overhead camshafts for four valves.

Engine

With its 132 kW (177 hp) of power, the V2 on the RC8 R Track can be considered as the measure of all things for ultra-sporty twins, with maximum performance, predictable characteristics and high reliability. The KTM engine impresses with an extremely broad rev range and spontaneous throttle response, while supplying supreme ride quality.

Akrapovic titanium EVO 4 exhaust system for optimised torque and power progression, plus a weight saving of almost six kilogrammes.

The main reasons for the outstanding performance of the RC8 R Track's V-twin with 75° cylinder angle are the ultra-modern cylinder heads with flow-optimised ducts and cam follower drive, each with two overhead camshafts for four valves. Valve timing is adjustable via the camshaft gears.

The electronic Keihin engine management system with twin throttle valves regulates the modern electronic fuel injection system on the RC8 R Track, focussing on maximum power with predictable engine characteristics and spontaneous responsiveness with controllable throttle response.

Chassis and Suspension

The intricately made light alloy swingarm makes a significant contribution to the outstanding traction of the RC8 R Track. The position of the swingarm can be adjusted by means of an eccentric on the lever linkage. In this way, compression can be minimised and squatting prevented when accelerating out of corners.

The progressiveness of the linkage provides the shock absorber with refined responsiveness and still with sufficient reserves at peak loads. The position of the swingarm can be adjusted to the rider's riding style and weight on the easily accessible eccentric on the linkage, and squatting on acceleration prevented.

Adjustable in spring basis as well as rebound and compression damping, the set-up ranges on the RC8 R Track's high-quality WP upside-down forks allow adaptation to all road and weather conditions. A WP steering damper keeps the forks on track, even in extreme conditions.

The RC8 R Track's 46/18 WP Race shock absorber has already celebrated race victories in the IDM Superbike championship. It provides all the setting options and enormous potential of a genuine racing shock absorber.

Brakes and Wheels

The RC8 R Track's brake system with the highest quality Brembo components functions perfectly, sensitively and consistently, thanks to racing brake pads, even under toughest conditions. At the front, two radially-mounted, four-piston brake calipers and two 320 mm and 5 mm thick, semi-floating brake discs provide ferocious stopping power.

Super-light Marchesini forged aluminum wheels make the RC8 R Track's handling more responsive. The suspension, grip and of course lap times benefit from these expensive and high-quality parts. The Track is also equipped with ultra-grippy slicks - for the pursuit of personal lap records.

Bikez----"A strictly limited number of bikes for those who want to use their 1190 RC8 R exclusively on the racetrack. Factory-homologated for Superstock and built to be ´ready to race´ by the KTM Racing Division, with all the goodies from the KTM PowerParts range that make the potential for race success even greater."

Total Motorcycle----"Due to the great demand, KTM will once again offer the RC8 R production racer, “race use only” version in MY 2012. Top IDM riders like Bauer, Nebel and Smrz have proven the merits of the concept with countless race wins. The offer is directed at championship racers on a national level as well as committed amateurs who intend to use their sport bike exclusively on racetracks. The bike has a Superstock homologation and is assembled “ready to race” by the KTM factory racing department, using lots of

goodies from the KTM PowerParts range essential for serious racing. 180 hp make for acceptable propulsion, and a mechanical anti-hopping clutch minimizes rear wheel hop under massive trail braking. Leave the shop and lay down the fastest lap of the trackday without any conversions, with the possible exception of a stop-over at the painter’s for your sponsor’s colour scheme."
