When it comes to motorcycles, KTM was always among the most innovative manufacturers in its segment. Now, the company proves once more its daring character and offers the first 125 cc motorcycle fitted with ABS.
At the heart of the bike lies a 1-cylinder 4-stroke, water-cooled engine with a displacement of 125 cc. The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine features twin overhead camshafts, four valves and electronic fuel injection. Its maximum output is rated at 11 kW (15 hp) and power is sent to the rear wheel via a six speed, claw shifted transmission. Talking about wheels, the motorcycle sits on a pair of lightweight 17 in cast light alloy wheels wrapped in 110 mm front and 150 mm rear tires.
The motorcycle’s backbone is a lightweight tubular space frame which keeps the weight grouped close to the centre of gravity to maximize handling.

OVERVIEW
In 2013, KTM is setting a new milestone in the mobilisation of young riders: The KTM 125 Duke is the world's first 125 cc motorbike to offer ABS – thus making the first steps into motorised mobility even safer than ever. And obviously none of the familiar dynamism is lost along the way. On the contrary: The pedigree motorbike technology can now be enjoyed with even greater relaxation – dynamic cornering guaranteed. The refined four-stroke single cylinder with fuel injection and six-speed transmission provides decent propulsion. And the low fuel consumption ensures a reasonable level of economy. Simply a genuine KTM – and setting new standards for 125s.
COCKPIT
The 125 Duke has everything that distinguishes a genuine KTM - from the high-quality chassis components to the multi-function cockpit, which even keeps you up to date with fuel consumption and remaining range. The extensive KTM PowerParts range gives you the option of adding your own individual style.
ERGONOMICS
The 125 Duke is also a genuine motorcycle in terms of dimensions, providing plenty of space and freedom of movement. The gathered sitting position supports relaxed touring equally as well as committed cornering. Large contact surfaces ensure optimum control and perfect feedback.
FUEL TANK
The shapely 11 l fuel tank of the 125 Duke not only provides the rider with perfect knee contact, but also with a range of substantially more than 300 km even when ridden on the edge, thanks to the economic engine.
SEAT
For all its sportiness, the two-piece seat provides surprising long-distance comfort, perfect support and first-class ergonomics for rider and pillion. At 810 mm the seat height is low enough for a secure standing position, but also high enough for sports-oriented use and a genuine big-bike feeling.
BRAKES
In 2013, the 125 Duke is setting new safety standards with the first ABS in the 125 cc class. A feature that makes the pleasure of the impressive Duke dynamics even safer for 16-year-olds and gives the finishing touch to what are unique chassis qualities in this segment. On the new KTM 125 Duke, the ABS – from Bosch as always with KTM - monitors the function of the powerful brake system with a radially mounted four-piston calliper, which gains even more braking power with the larger brake disc (from 280 to 300 mm in diameter) - fun without risk, developed in close cooperation with the specialists from Bosch and Brembo. And for the stunt riders among us: the ABS can naturally be switched off.
ENGINE
The state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine with twin overhead camshafts, four valves and electronic fuel injection has been developed specifically for the 125 Duke. It effortlessly achieves its peak power of 11 kW (15 hp) and thanks to the balancer shaft, delivers the highest levels of smoothness.
CYLINDER HEAD
Just as on the RC8 R, the four valves in the cylinder head of the 125 Duke 2013 are actuated by two overhead camshafts and cam levers. This design is not only extremely reliable, but also offers low friction thanks to the ultra-hard carbon coating of the cam levers - releasing even more power.
SILENCER
The compact, three-chamber silencer is positioned close to the machine's overall centre of gravity. This aids centralisation of masses and improves the playful handling of the 125 Duke. Thanks to a regulated catalytic converter, the emissions are exemplary.
INJECTION
The intricate engine design, state-of-the-art injection electronics and the close-ratio, six-speed transmission not only help the KTM 125 Duke to achieve impressive performance, but also to moderate fuel consumption. Thanks to the regulated catalytic converter, it produces only minimal emissions.
FUEL TANK
The shapely 11 l fuel tank of the 125 Duke not only provides the rider with perfect knee contact, but also with a range of substantially more than 300 km even when ridden on the edge, thanks to the economic engine.

FUEL TANK
11 kW (15 hp) of power with an unladen weight of only 127 kg guarantee plenty of riding fun with the 125 Duke. The first-class chassis, with lightweight tubular space frame in the proven KTM design, turns it into a real surfer through the curves. Weight grouped close to the centre of gravity maximise manoeuvrability and precision.
BRAKES
The 125 Duke's lightweight, high-quality, pin-jointed swingarm is designed and produced according to the same principle as the 690 Duke. The light alloy swingarm with directly linked WP shock absorber excels with extreme torsional stiffness and outstanding tracking stability.
FRAME
The 125 Duke's high-quality upside-down fork from WP Suspension has the same 43 mm outer tube diameter as the RC8 R – in other words, real racing equipment that guarantees highest levels of stability and precision.
SWINGARM
Equally lightweight and delicate as they are stable, the 17 in cast light alloy wheels developed by KTM specifically for the 125 Duke provide a 110 mm tyre width at the front and an impressive 150 mm at the rear. The tyres impress with tremendous grip in both wet and dry conditions, as well as providing supreme durability.
