The KTM 200 Duke is equipped with a wide range of features which make it perfectly suited for off road riding. However, the bike’s main attribute is its extremely low weight which is rated at only 129.5 kg, without fuel.

The low weight is combined with a pretty agile 200 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, spark-ignition engine which is mated on a six speed, claw shifted transmission. The unit is based on the single-cylinder four-stroke engine of the 125 Duke. For increased performances, the 2013 power unit features new camshafts, larger valves, a larger piston with a completely new crank drive, new airbox and a new exhaust layout. The end result is a maximum output of 25 hp and more than enough torque to keep the bike ahead of many of its competitors.

The motorcycle is kept in leash by a capable ABS from Bosch. To improve the stopping power, the 2013 KTM 200 Duke has received larger brake discs (increased from 280 to 300 mm diameter).

OVERVIEW

200 Duke: Lightness rediscovered - or the 125 Duke for grown-ups. Maximum riding fun, powerful propulsion and optimum user value thanks to thoroughbred motorcycle technology. Featherweight chassis with high-quality components and first-class brakes. And dynamic cornering fun guaranteed with the surprisingly full-bodied and lively power of the cultivated, new four-stroke single-cylinder with injection, six-speed transmission and low fuel consumption. Precisely what you'd expect from a genuine KTM.

COCKPIT

The 2013 200 Duke has everything that distinguishes a genuine KTM - from the high-quality chassis components to the multi-function cockpit, which even keeps you up to date with fuel consumption and remaining range. The extensive KTM PowerParts range gives you the option of adding your own individual style.

ERGONOMICS

The 200 Duke is also a genuine motorcycle in terms of dimensions, providing plenty of space and freedom of movement. The gathered sitting position supports relaxed touring equally as well as committed cornering. Large contact surfaces ensure optimum control and perfect feedback.

FUEL TANK

The shapely 11 l fuel tank on the 200 Duke not only provides the rider with perfect knee contact, but also guarantees a range of more than 300 kilometres even when ridden on the edge, thanks to the economical engine.

SEAT

For all its sportiness, the two-piece seat provides surprising long-distance comfort, perfect support and first-class ergonomics for rider and pillion. At 810 mm the seat height is low enough for a secure standing position, but also high enough for sports-oriented use and a genuine big-bike feeling.

BRAKES

For 2013 a Bosch 9M-ABS makes the pleasure of the impressive Duke dynamics even safer and adds the finishing touch to what are unique chassis qualities in this segment. On the new 2013 200 Duke, the ABS – from Bosch as always with KTM - monitors the function of the powerful brake system with radially mounted four-piston calliper which gains even more braking power with the larger brake discs (increased from 280 to 300 mm diameter) - fun without risk, developed in close cooperation with the specialists from Bosch and Brembo. And for the stunt riders among us: the ABS can naturally be switched off.

ENGINE

No minor development: Based on the state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine of the 125 Duke, the 2013 200 Duke's power unit has been changed substantially to generate 60 % more displacement and correspondingly fully developed power. New camshafts, larger valves, a larger piston with a completely new crank drive, new airbox and new exhaust layout. It all results in 19 kW (25 hp) and incredibly punchy torque, even at lower revs – with irresistible smoothness.

CYLINDER HEAD

Just as on the RC8 R, the four valves in the cylinder head of the KTM 200 Duke are actuated by two overhead camshafts and cam levers. This design is not only extremely reliable, but also offers low friction thanks to the ultra-hard carbon coating of the cam levers - releasing even more power.

SILENCER

The compact, three-chamber silencer is positioned close to the machine's overall centre of gravity. This aids centralisation of masses and improves the easy handling of the KTM 200 Duke. Thanks to a regulated catalytic converter, the emissions are exemplary.

INJECTION

The intricate engine design, state-of-the-art injection electronics and the close-ratio, six-speed transmission not only help the 200 Duke to achieve impressive performance, but also moderate fuel consumption. Thanks to the regulated catalytic converter, it produces only minimal emissions

FUEL TANK

The shapely 11 l fuel tank on the 200 Duke not only provides the rider with perfect knee contact, but also with a range of more than 300 kilometres even when ridden on the edge, thanks to the economical engine.

FUEL TANK

The 200 Duke's high-quality upside-down fork from WP Suspension has the same 43 mm outer tube diameter as the RC8 R – in other words, real racing equipment that guarantees highest levels of stability and precision.

BRAKES

19 kW (25 hp) Power and an unladen weight of only 129.5 kg guarantee tremendous, fleet-footed riding fun with the new 200 Duke 2013. The first-class chassis, with lightweight tubular space frame in the proven KTM design, turns it into a real surfer through the curves. Weight grouped close to the centre of gravity maximise manoeuvrability and precision.

TELESCOPIC FORK

The KTM 200 Duke's lightweight, high-quality, pin-jointed swingarm is designed and produced according to the same principle as the 690 Duke. The light alloy swingarm with directly linked WP shock absorber excels with extreme torsional stiffness and outstanding tracking stability.

FRAME

Equally lightweight and delicate as they are stable, the 17 in cast light alloy wheels provide a 110 mm tyre width at the front and an impressive 150 mm at the rear. The tyres impress with tremendous grip in both wet and dry conditions, as well as providing supreme durability.

WHEELS AND TYRES

Zigwheels: Quick off the line, with a staggeringly quick 0-100km/h time of just 9.01 seconds and a top whack of about 136km/h, there is a lot more to the KTM 200 Duke than just straight-line performance. Channeling the 25 horses in a manner that they are most enjoyable at all times, the 200 Duke’s power delivery is enormously rev-happy.

Visordown: "An 85mph (indicated) top-end is respectable but 1st gear tops out at 28mph, so 2nd to 5th cover 30mph to 70mph. Perhaps I'm too used to litre-class sportsbikes that have a good 40mph between gears, but the ratios on the 200 Duke feel as tightly packed as Dawn French's corset."
