The famous International Six Days Enduro competition is among the toughest contests of its type and covers over a thousand kilometers. It lasts six days and the rider needs to spent 40 hours in the saddle. Only the best motorcycles are able to finish the race successfully and in this competition KTM has always managed to stand out from the crowd, as more than half the starters bank on KTM every year.

The company ads a series of upgrades to its standard enduro motorcycle to help them cope perfectly with the requirements of the Six Days Enduro competition. Thereby the 450 EXC Six Days is equipped with a series of features which make it ready for this tough contest.

The motorcycle rides on a new generation 4CS closed-cartridge fork from WP Suspension paired with a PDS shock absorber.

Other features include a stiff frame with high quality orange coating, orange anodized CNC-machined triple clamps, black anodised handlebar with KTM Six Days logo and a Supersprox 2-piece rear sprocket with steel outer ring and aluminum star. You also get a full rear brake disc (no slots/holes), Camel SXS seat, skid plate, radiator guard, carbon exhaust protector and various Six Days logos and graphics.

FRAME

In keeping with KTM tradition, the frames are made from high quality, lightweight, chrome-molybdenum steel profiles. In conjunction with the rear PDS damping system, they are designed for optimum absorption of shocks introduced into the frame by the rear wheel. In response to the trend for aluminium frames followed by our rivals, we supply a high-tech steel frame that weighs approx. 0.5 kg less than the lightest competitor. Moreover, it's easier to maintain, work on it is simpler and it provides more space for the fuel tank and other components.

SWINGARM

All KTM EXC models are designed with a lightweight, cast aluminium swingarm featuring direct linkage of the PDS shock absorber on the upper side. The aluminium casting process allows production of a single-piece swingarm with unlimited geometric possibilities and reduces inconsistencies caused by welding work. The swingarm has been designed to provide targeted flexibility on the one hand, thereby bolstering the suspension, and high torsional stiffness on the other.

INDIVIDUAL SUSPENSION SETTING

Each EXC model has its own individual suspension settings, optimally tuned to weight and engine. At the rear, a PDS shock absorber from WP Suspension works with a direct linkage to the upper side of the swingarm. The wide range of setting options for rebound damping and high- and low-speed compression damping are standard on KTM bikes.

FORK

The KTM Six Days models are equipped with a completely redesigned, 48 mm closed-cartridge fork from WP Suspension. The new 4-chamber technology (4CS) patented by WP not only provides a key benefit in terms of responsiveness and consistent damping characteristics, it is also lighter and oil services prove to be far simpler than on the conventional closed-cartridge versions. This fork overcomes extremely rutted tracks and other such major obstacles with the greatest of ease. Another benefit: The fork can be adapted to track and rider in a matter of clicks at the top of the fork: compression damping on the left-hand shaft, rebound damping on the right.

BRAKES

Brakes from Brembo® are standard equipment on KTM offroad bikes and, together with lightweight wave brake discs, they are recognised as the measure of all things in terms of application and brake performance. The further refined rear brake cylinder has a new internal mechanism that ensures less wear at the rubber seal and therefore greater durability.

TRIPLE CLAMP

Meticulously finished triple clamps machined from a solid block are fitted to all Six Days models. Not only do they look classy in anodised orange; above all, they are designed in such a way that they support the responsiveness and sliding behaviour of the new fork and ultimately have a positive effect on the entire handling.

TANKS

The slim 9.5 l tanks are made from lightweight, transparent polyethylene, allowing the fuel level to be seen from the outside. The tried and tested bayonet filler cap can be opened easily with only a quarter turn and features the proven safety mechanism to prevent unintentional twisting.

WHEELS

The high quality KTM wheels with CNC-machined hubs are standard on KTM bikes. The new, extremely stable, 7050 aluminium rims from GIANT now bear exclusive 6Days lettering. New MAXXIS FIM tyres - specially developed for KTM - provide excellent traction, very precise directional control and a long service life.

CYLINDER HEAD

The SOHC cylinder head is equipped with an overhead camshaft that actuates the titanium intake valves and steel exhaust valves. The whole configuration has been perfectly tuned to the Keihin EFI system for outstanding rideability and performance of the KTM 450 EXC SixDDays.

EFI / EMS

The engine management system from Keihin with electronic fuel injection and 42 mm throttle body ensures spontaneous, powerful responsiveness and handling, along with maximum performance. Automatic temperature and altitude compensation are state of the art. With an optional map-select switch (PowerParts), a variety of different engine characteristics can be selected.

CLUTCH

The one-piece outer clutch hub with primary gear is machined from a single piece of high-strength steel. This guarantees unbeatable reliability and contributes to narrow engine width with its compact, rivetless design. It also allows the use of thin steel discs, making the overall clutch package very compact. A diaphragm spring enables implementation of an additional hub damping mechanism - a benefit in terms of traction and gearbox durability. In conjunction with the diaphragm spring, the hydraulic clutch actuation system from Brembo ensures very smooth and very precise clutch control.

BODYWORK

The KTM 450 EXC Six Days has bodywork with extremely slim ergonomics and excellent contact points between rider and machine. It provides unlimited freedom of movement. For MY 2013, the bike stands out with newly styled graphics in the colours of the ISDE in Germany.
