2010 Star Stratoliner

Star Stratoliner

Star Motorcycles really overpass themselves with the 2009 Stratoliner models as these were not only impressively powerful and offered great road behavior – like all other model years before them –, but also stood out in the style chapter. Truly unique motorcycles not only in their manufacturer’s lineup, but among all other big displacement cruisers available on the market today, with each year that passed by, the Stratoliners only demanded some new color schemes and they were good to go. For 2010, things are different as Star launched the all-new Stratoliner Deluxe and carries on producing the Stratoliner S without any upgrades, while the standard Stratoliner will only sell as a 2009 model year.

Whether that’s good or bad, we cannot yet say, but we can say a thing or two about these 2010 models that caught our attention.

Star VMAX

Star Motorcycles now offers the most highly appreciated cruiser of this year as a 2010 model, the only difference for the 638lbs bike benefiting of 200 horsepower and 123 lb/ft of torque being red paint. Also, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price has been raised with $1,510 (from $17,990 on the 2009 Yamaha VMAX to the current $19,500), giving buyers the opportunity to show how the biggest excesses are made in times of economic crisis.

It’s sometimes enough to bring up the words “power” and “cruiser” so that other ones such as “Star” and “Warrior” would naturally emerge. That’s right; this motorcycle has become not only a Star emblem, but a benchmark for the industry. The interesting part about it is that it climbed all the way up to the top of the wave in the collective’s mental and keeps on riding there.

Based on the idea that brute force should be instantly delivered to the massive rear wheel of a stripped down cruising-type motorcycle, performance cruisers have claimed their fair market share and the Star Warrior has had a lot to do with it. Let’s see what it’s up to in 2009.

Buying a real cruiser, tourer or custom has absolutely nothing to do with cylinder capacity. That’s the first idea you get when seeing the 2009 V Star lineup, especially the 650cc trio, the Classic, Silverado and Custom. These bikes are built with reliability, comfort and fuel efficiency in mind and it is by now a fact that beginners love them mostly due to offering diversity in the form of entry-level products.

Does 40-cubic-inch of V-twin motor ring a bell? This is one of the first engines to power a Yamaha cruiser-type motorcycle and ten years after being introduced it still rocks…on three stylish different models.
