2007 Suzuki RM-Z250

Posted on by 0

The 2007 RM-Z250 is all new from the ground up and it is 100% Suzuki.

The RM-Z250 features a compact, lightweight and powerful 250cc 4-stroke engine design, a strong and lightweight aluminum chassis, Showa suspension components and many high-performance features for the ultimate 250cc 4-stroke racing machine.

The RM-Z250 engine is based around an over-square bore x stroke design, with liquid-cooling, titanium valves and double overhead billet cams. The engine is housed by a lightweight, twin-spar aluminum-alloy frame combining aluminum forgings, extrusions and stampings welded into a single unit. The whole package is supported by a Showa inverted, twin-chamber, cartridge fork and Showa remote reservoir rear shock. The RM-Z250 features a unique aluminum rear swingarm built using hydro-formed, thick-wall tapered arms welded to a cast linkage bracket and forged axle holders.

Other features include Dunlop tires mounted on lightweight aluminum rims with a special spoke/nipple design, plus Renthal aluminum handlebars as standard equipment. Included with this year’s new model are all the benefits of Suzuki’s race contingency, trackside support, Tony D School and Good scholar program. All these added benefits are exclusive to Suzuki riders.

The RM-Z250 for 2007: it’s taking the four-stroke world by storm!

Transmission utilizes new updated gear ratios from 3rd to 5th gear for improved performance and a new gear-type shifting mechanism for improved shift feel and precision
Cam profiles selected for a wide powerband with strong peak power
Composite-plated aluminum alloy cylinder for increased durability, optimum engine cooling and operating temperature
Forged, 2-ring piston designed for maximum oil retention and minimal wear, plus tin-plating for added durability
Keihin FCR37 carburetor with throttle position sensor and accelerator pump - throttle valve design and stainless-steel throttle cable are designed for low-friction throttle operation
Strong, reinforced airbox designed for durability and secure intake seal
Automatic decompression system for easy kick starting
Semi-dry-sump lubrication system features separate oil chambers for the transmission and crankshaft using the transmission as the oil sump, allowing low crankshaft placement, reduced engine height and a low center of gravity
New larger radiators for increased cooling capacity and more stable engine operating temperature combined with an updated water pump redesigned radiator shrouds for maximum cooling
AC-CDI ignition system with two ignition maps automatically increases engine idle speed to reduce engine brake effect - ignition timing and rev limiter set for optimum high rpm and over-rev performance
Magnesium cylinder head, generator and outer clutch covers minimize overall engine weight
New direct ignition coils mounted on the spark plug cap for lightweight and efficient combustion
Lightweight exhaust system features a titanium construction, plus a repackable aluminum/stainless steel muffler

Renthal tapered aluminum handlebars with Renthal-labeled handlebar pad for reduced vibration and improved rider feel
Showa-brand cartridge-style front fork with 47mm inner tube, plus 22-way compression damping, 20-way rebound damping and 12.2 inches of wheel travel
Showa-brand rear shock absorber with large 50mm piston and 18mm inner rod for increased oil flow and stable damping performance
Rear linkage system places the suspension load on the swingarm instead of the frame to reduce frame weight, and allows smoother movement of the rear shock and linkage for improved rear wheel traction
Front disc brake system consists of a dual-piston caliper with thin Kevlar brake line for reduced weight and progressive brake feel
Lightweight rear brake system includes a dual piston caliper with and durable forged brake pedal
On-the-fly clutch lever adjuster mounted to the clutch lever perch for rider convenience
