The Suzuki RM-Z250 has received a series of upgrades for 2013 which make slightly more capable than the previous version.

The most significant upgrades were made to the engine which now offers better overall performances and is also significantly smoother. The revamped 249cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, single cylinder, DOHC unit is kept check by a 5-speed constant mesh which is also new offering a smoother feel and more precise shifts.

The bike also comes with a redesigned chassis and suspensions which include a front fork inner tube with a diameter of 48mm and adjustable spring pre-load while out back there is a Showa Piggyback shock with setting changes and adjustments.

You also get a pair of rugged lightweight wheel shod in 80/100-21 51M front and 100/90-19 57M, tube type tyres.

The Suzuki RM-Z250 is offered with a starting price of $7,599.

Key Features

-In 2010 Suzuki revolutionized race-day tuning with the introduction of a fuel-setting adjustment system. The RM-Z250 uses this innovative design, which consists of three couplers that allow you to quickly adjust the fuel setting to suit riding conditions. One coupler contains the stock settings, a second is for a richer fuel setting than the stock setting and the third is for a leaner setting.

-All-new Showa Separate Function front Fork (SFF) separates spring and damping functions. The right leg holds the spring, while the left leg incorporates the cartridge assembly to manage damping. The SFF design reduces friction, increased absorption performance and is lighter weight resulting in remarkably smooth performance over a variety of track conditions.

-The frame and seat rail have been refined for optimized rigidity balance. The result is an ideal balance of nimble handling and stability.

-A new transmission provides smoother and crisper shifting. The clutch's cam release has also been modified for lighter operation and enhanced feel.

-Riders can now track engine-operating time and better manage maintenance intervals using the optional FI indicator (Part #: 36380-28H00)

Engine Features

-Compact and lightweight 4-stroke, 249cc, fuel-injected, DOHC engine is modified for increased reliability. It provides outstanding performance across an incredibly wide powerband.

-A newly designed piston and piston pin was developed using Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. The new piston is 3% lighter without any compromise to strength and integrity.

-The crankcase reed valve has been revised for more efficient lubrication. The new oil strainer has a stronger magneto to capture contaminants from the engine oil. Together these changes contribute to better throttle response and smoother power delivery.

-An advanced battery-less fuel-injection (FI) system features a 44mm throttle body with progressive throttle linkage and a 16-bit computer for instant throttle response.

-Aluminum cylinder, with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) coating, is designed for durability, light weight and efficient heat transfer.

-Redesigned exhaust system meets new FIM sound limits while increasing mid- to high-rpm power and delivery. The new muffler body now uses conventional bolts in end cap instead of rivets to simplify the replacement of the glass wool packing in the muffler.

-A new ECM with higher processing performance and a new high power ignition coil optimize combustion efficiency for increased roll-on performance.

-The RM-Z250's cooling efficiency is increased thanks to a redesigned radiator fin and revised water hose routing, making the bike's high performance power output more stable, even in the most demanding conditions. RM-Z250's also features a new by-pass hose routing to simplify occasional radiator maintenance.

-A new transmission provides smoother and crisper shifting. The clutch's cam release has also been modified for lighter operation and enhanced feel.

Chassis Features

-The frame and seat rail have been refined for optimized rigidity balance. The result is an ideal balance of nimble handling and stability.

-The front fork inner tube diameter has been increased from 47mm to 48mm further improving stability and absorption. The spring pre-load is now adjustable, which allows a wider range of adjustment for any level of rider.

-New Dunlop MX51 series front and rear tires provide enhanced traction.

-The high-quality Renthal handlebars feature a tapered design and are fixed to the triple clamp on a rubber mount.

-To maintain the RM-Z's renowned handling performance, each bike's rear suspension features a Showa Piggyback shock with setting changes and adjustments to best match with the increased engine performance and front forks changes. The design allows enhanced suspension performance for a wider variety of riders.
