Design

The Yamaha TT-R230's handling and all-purpose looks was inspired by the YZ. It comes with a competition-style flat seat/tank junction to make for outstanding ride mobility. It's got a steel, diamond-type-design frame that offers sturdiness even for the most rugged of trails. The long gripper seat is low, comfortable, and allows easy rider movement while a distinctive Team Yamaha-inspired colors offers the kind of style that makes for a distinctive Yamaha. The graphics, as well as the front and side number plates, add to the styling touch of the bike. The large, folding, cleated foot pegs provide excellent footing, even in wet or muddy conditions. Durable fork boots provide excellent fork seal and stanchion. And finally, the bike comes with a full-sized 21" and 18" aluminum wheel on the front and rear, respectively.

Performance

The Yamaha TT-R230 comes with a reliable, electric start, 223cc air-cooled, SOHC four-stroke engine that puts out smooth, widespread power perfectly suited for all kinds of trails and riders. The engine is mated to a smooth-shifting, six-speed transmission with heavy-duty clutch geared for optimum versatility wherever it finds itself in. There's also a YZ-type air filter that allows for easy maintenance and maximum airflow and a lightweight exhaust system with muffler and a USFS-approved spark arrestor, offering the kind of quiet ride that makes it such a worthwhile off-road bike to own.

Brakes and Suspension

A steel frame with a compact wheelbase and low seat height was fitted into the TT-R230, making it an ideal bike for new or smaller riders looking for a bike that offers excellent maneuverability and quick and responsive handling. A linkage-mounted adjustable rear shock serves up 8.7" of smooth, progressive rear wheel travel for great bump absorption and handling. The bike also has a 36mm front fork with 9.5" of wheel travel, the kind that makes for a plush, confidence-inspiring control over rough terrain. Ground clearance for the bike reaches 11.6", good enough to handle just about any trail it finds. Then there's the aluminum box-section swingarm, which features snail-type chain adjusters for quick and easy chain adjustments. At the front, the TT-R230 comes with a 220mm disc and 130mm rear drum brakes for powerful confident stops.
