Design

Star quality paint, chrome, and detailing vie for attention wherever you look; that's what the new Yamaha V Star 1300 offers. For the 2011 model of the V Star 1300, the handlebar bend is changed, bringing the bars closer to the rider for a more relaxed riding position. Likewise, the shape of the seat has been redesigned with a “dish” shape for improved comfort, allowing riders to touch the ground easily. There's also a new 3D tank emblem design adorning the V Star 1300 and evoking a modern-classic look and plenty of new touches of chrome, including the new headlight housing and chrome belt guard. Plus, there’s a new gloss black finish on the frame that adds a high-quality look.

There's also a retro-modern bar-mounted instrumentation that contains an analog speedometer along with an LCD display, as well as indicator lights for high beam, turn signal, low oil level, low fuel, coolant temperature, neutral, and engine diagnostic function. A bright multireflector headlight, LED taillight, and amber turn signals behind clear lenses round out the new touches for the 2011 V Star 1300.

Performance

A 1,304cc liquid-cooled, short stroke, SOHC, 8-valve, 60° V-twin powerplant has been fitted to the V Star 1300, producing incredible amounts of class leading power and torque for unparalleled acceleration and cruising performance. The electric start system of the bike comes with a mechanical centrifugal decompression device in the exhaust camshafts, allowing for easy, no-hassle starting. One-piece cylinder heads - each head is fitted with a single long read spark plug - feature 4-valves per cylinder, providing optimum breathing efficiency for maximum power output. Ceramic composite cylinder sleeves containing 100mm forged pistons offer excellent durability and longevity while a sly cooling system routes liquid through hidden hoses and internal engine passages for air-cooled looks and liquid-cooled performance.

Chassis and Suspension

The Yamaha V Star 1300 comes with a steel cradle frame that carries four solid engine mounts, allowing for maximum rigidity and excellent handling. A stylish, braced steel swingarm and rear wheel are also part of the whole set-up and are controlled by a single linkage-mounted shock absorber, adjustable for spring preload. 41mm fork tubes with stainless steel covers act as suspensions for the bike, serving up a smooth and controlled ride. As for the brakes, the V Star 1300 comes with a pair of 298mm front brake discs that provide excellent power and feel, while a strong, light, and low maintenance belt final drive routes power smoothly and efficiently to the rear wheel.
