Design

The 2011 Yamaha V-Star 250 is considered one of the world's most popular motorcycles, and for good reason. The bike was designed by Yamaha to be a nimble, cat-quick bike that weighs only 324 lbs with a low center of gravity. 18" front wheels and 15" rear wheels on the bike makes the small cruiser easier to navigate in and around the block.

With all the history surrounding it, the Yamaha V Star 250 still carries plenty of design sizzle. One of the highlights is the extensive chrome details given, especially to the engine and side covers. There's also a stylishly sculpted teardrop fuel tank featuring a 2.5-gallon capacity

for excellent cruising range and chrome pullback handlebars that make for easy-riding all the time. Expansive two-piece rider and passenger seats reinforce the cruiser's appearance, including a rear passenger section that can be removed leaving only rider accommodation, if desired.

Forward-set footpegs enhance rider comfort by creating added legroom and the wide rear fender and front and rear wire-spoked wheels add the perfect classic, retro touch to this stylish package.

Performance

As far as performance capabilities are concerned, the V Star 250 carries an air-cooled, 249cc, 60-degree V2 engine with a long 66mm stroke that produces soft roll-on power. The engine is then mated to a five-speed transmission with dual chrome exhaust pipes, allowing the engine to work its proverbial magic without all the undue pressure surrounding it. The bike also features a single 26mm Mikuni downdraft carburetor with accelerator pump that provides crisp throttle response.

Transistorized coil ignition (T.C.I.) ensures fast starts and maximum engine performance while automatic cam chain tensioners help keep maintenance to a minimum and reduce mechanical engine noise. Like we mentioned, the V Star 250 comes with a smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission that provides excellent versatility. There's also a lightweight and user-friendly clutch lever pull while a washable, foam air filter reduces tune-up costs.

Brakes and Suspension

The Yamaha V Star 250 comes with a rugged, high-tensile steel, double-cradle frame that creates a stylish profile and low seat height. A box-section swing-arm with 5-way spring preload adjustable dual rear shocks gives the rider a comfortable ride, further reinforcing the cruiser's svelte and sexy image. Out in front, the bike carries a 282-mm drilled front disc brake that uses a twin-piston caliper for excellent stopping power. Meanwhile, the rear drum brake is both easy to adjust and provides excellent stopping power.
