Singapore - The world's largest motorcycle and bicycle show will be held in Singapore next year, generating an estimated 150 million US dollars in business, organizers of the event said on Wednesday.


BikeAsia 2008 will occupy 20,000 square metres at the Singapore Expo from April 10-13 and has the support of EICMA, which organizes the Milan International Exhibition of Bicycles and Motorcycles.


The inaugural show will leverage on Singapore's geographical location to create a one-stop venue for businesses throughout the region, said EICMA director Constantino Ruggiero.


Distributors and manufacturers from China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, the United States and Europe are expected to participate.


'We were surprised to find that in this region there was no show fully devoted to two-wheel vehicles, components, clothing and accessories,' Ruggiero said.


The main focus will be on motorcycles since the market in larger in terms of revenue generated than the market for bicycles.


Asia manufactures 90 per cent of the world's motorcycle output. Sales are also growing at a stronger rate than in Europe and the US.
