Knox back protector

Posted on by

Ever since its launch, the spine-hugging Contour back protector has been an instant hit, thanks to its unrivalled combination of comfort, light weight and class leading protection. For 2007 the Contour gets cool new colour options and cool new features too. The regular Tour version, aimed at road riders, will be available in cool ‘Camo’ as well as the distinctive ‘Black Retro’ design.

On the subject of cool, the Contour will get the same Venturi cooling system as used on the Ricochet back protector. This simple yet ingenious design means that ridges on the side of the Contour pressed against the body act like chimneys that draw hot air up and out of the top, by the collar. Meanwhile the waistband is covered with L System fabric, which incorporates Coolmax® for temperature control and Amicor an antibacterial fibre that reduces odours from perspiration.

The Knox Contour remains the first and only back-protector to be S-shaped, following the contour of the spine, hence the name. Generous use of honeycomb polypropylene cells mean that the Contour transmits only 6KN of energy, a very comfortable 30% below the 9kN threshold permitted for level 2 protectors under the tough new European EN1621-2 back-protector standard. Additional protection is provided by a covering of tear & abrasion resistant Schoeller Dynatec material down the centre.

It weighs just 600g, making it one of the lightest back protectors on the market, yet offers maximum coverage of the back area, including side impact panels. There is even a facility to attach a CE approved chest protector to the cross-over Z-fastener strap system at the front.

The Knox Contour is produced in three sizes; Small, Large and XL.
The Knox Contour retails for £99.99 ($196) inc. VAT.
