About a decade ago, modular helmets came on the scene. They offered the benefits of making it easier for those who wear eyeglasses to put the helmet on, and to raise the front part of the helmet to get a little air at stop lights or gas stops and talk to your riding buddies.

The drawback was that the helmets were not designed to be ridden with the chinbar up. They rested on top of the helmet, and created so much aerodynamic drag that it would try to yank the helmet off your head at speeds above 25 miles per hour.

Then in 2009 Shark Helmets came out with a game changing helmet - the Evoline. When I say “game changing”, think about the first laptop computer, or the first tablet device, iPod, iPhone, or even the first package of sliced bread. The Evoline was the first modular helmet – and still the only one I’ve ever seen – that is designed to swing the chinbar assembly all the way back to rest behind the back of the helmet. That puts it out of the wind blast so the helmet is aerodynamic enough to ride at speed in total comfort. And the rider can still lower the face shield and the tinted “jet fighter” sun shade independently.

Sturgis was a big center of attraction for bikers and motorcycle lovers, as it hosted the 73rd Annual Motorcycle Rally.

As the place was crowded with motorcycles fans, Mustang Motorcycle Products, LLC thought that it is the perfect place to show up their new Signature Series seat.

The Signature Series seat was fitted on a custom motorcycle built by Dave Perewitz.

Talking about their collaboration with Perewitz, Mustang’s Product Manager Matt Kulman said “There is no mistaking a bike built by Perewitz…just as there is no mistaking this seat. Perewitz knows style, Mustang knows comfort and together we make a pretty good team!”

With this occasion, Mustang has also organized a small contest for its fans and the winner will be drawn from the entry box at the end of the Rally. The prize offered by Mustang is either a studded or a standard Journey Bag. The bag was designed with practicality in mind and features three side compartments. It offers a volume of 3,744 cubic inches and measures 18” tall x 14” deep x 20” wide.

Ever come upon a product that you can’t point your finger at as far as what its actual purpose is?

Here we have the Alomar Motorcycle Jacket-Backpack, a fashion accessory that converts from a protective and stylish jacket to a durable backpack and back into a jacket at the slightest of ease.

How exactly does all of this simple transformation work?

The Alomar is a jacket that’s made out of 600 Denier Polyester Nylon - the same material space ships are made from - and has been padded with dual Teflon shoulder and elbow pads. The water-resistant polyester, in particular, allows the Alomar to be used in a myriad of weather conditions. It also has adjustable drawstrings and a pocket that can be accessible through both the jacket and backpack orientation, providing enough space to stow anything from laptops, iPads, or any other flat item you’d want to carry.

Everything about the Alomar speaks to an innovation that’s both practical and useful for riders. We’re not quite sure about the weight - 4 lbs - but if you can carry that weight over your shoulder, plus the added weight from the items you’re carrying, then you have yourself a multi-purpose jacket that you can take with you anywhere you want to go.

Honda UK has announced the special Sports Package for the 2011 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade . The new package will be available until the end of 2011 and will be offered for both standard and ABS-equipped versions. It will be priced at £599 for the ABS pack and £699 for the standard pack.

The Sport Pack includes a higher screen, seat cowl, Akrapovic exhaust, a bike cover, and a rear tire hugger for the non ABS model. The model will be available with a new HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) tricolor version that includes a stunning gold trim, white wheels, front and rear fenders, and HRC stickers on the middle and upper front cowl. Customers interested can also order a special Graphite Black version with black wheels.

The company has described the new model as follows: "It places a firm emphasis on the clean lines of the bodywork which contrast strongly with the silver colored frame."

The Honda CB450 Cafe Racer "Bonita Applebum" started its life as a 1971 Honda CB450 bought from eBay, and believe it or not, the bike was built in a small apartment. After buying all the items needed from eBay, Pepe Luque - the guy who now owns the bike - started to clean, paint, and spit polish every piece before installing them on the frame.

Besides some minor fine-tuning, Luque worked on this project all by himself, including upsizing the main jets to compensate for the airflow in and out of the motor and replacing the Pirelli tires for some Firestones. As for the exterior paint, it was inspired by a CB450 Armadillo, while the handgrips and seat color was suggested by his flatmate. Why is the fact that he built the whole thing by himself so noteworthy? Well, Pepe Luque is colorblind.

When explaining how he came about picking the colors and getting everything just right for the bike to work, he said: "The main section I really struggled with was the wiring of the bike. As you could imagine, being color blind did not help with the colors of the wires. I was very fortunate that my girl and my brother’s wife helped with labelling the wires. For instance, yellow with a white trace, I labelled FLB (front left blinker) and so on. It took me by surprise that I nailed the wiring on first go."
