Stunt performers often happen to ask someone in the public to join them for a specific act, but I’ve never heard about them asking the organizers to be lit on fire. Now this is a first!
Did you ever wonder what daredevils do in their free time (I mean, when they are not recovering after one of those unsuccessful stunt attempts, of course)? According to this video, they work and have a lot of fun doing it.
This is Travis Pastrana at his third and successful attempt of back flipping a child’s tricycle.
P.S. We can’t wait for a double back flip on that thing!
Don’t get me wrong, I am not referring to Travis Pastrana and his amazing double backflips, but to this kind of amateur riders who see a ramp and decide to go for it. This guy doesn’t even manage to direct his dirt bike onto the very narrow ramp, but that doesn’t exclude himself. The rest of it is just pain for the rider and laughs for the five spectators that he had and the millions that will see it on the web.
Let’s just hope he didn’t suffer much after the crash.
After winning gold in the Snowmobile Speed and Style event at the Winter X Games XII in 2008, Levi Lavallee attempted the first double backflip on a snowmobile at this year’s competition with the same name. The American snowmobile racer did manage to do two complete rotations, but because he went approximately 20 feet longer than he expected, the tough landing didn’t allowed him to ride away.
It is too bad to see this record slip away through his fingers, but considering the stunt that he achieved despite the small distance error, walking away form it means everything.
322 feet, 7 1/2 inches. This is the new world record for a motorcycle jump and it was established by Robbie Madison at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on New Year’s Eve. Performing on a Honda CR500, the daredevil and freestyle rider had to face 10-12 mph headwind and still made it all look so easy.
Afterwards, Maddison dedicated the jump to Evel Knievel and mentioned, "It was just such a shame [Knievel] wasn’t here to see the jump as he has always said it couldn’t be done." Furthermore, it incited his audience with a next world record by adding, "I know I can go further than tonight. I wasn’t going to show my full hand before March 29."
We can only wait for the event on the announced date to see if that is possible, but I believe we got a great preview to work with until then.
Robbie Maddison has been very active while we’ve been away for 2009’s eve. Red Bull’s daredevil jumped over 100 feet onto the Arc the Triomphe at Paris Las Vegas and then ramped off the construction replica while all was being broadcasted life on TV.
So, what have you been doing in the last day of 2008?
We all know how hard it is for people to buy the right present…I mean for Santa to create and transport the right present for each person individually, but if it still travels, at least to do it in style. This one sure knows what that means although he lost his beard in the process.
A Santa that rides like that won’t deliver anything but aftermarket exhaust and a whole bunch of accessories for our bikes. Perfect!
Watch out, biker flying! Now this is a stunt that goes absolutely perfect and yet the bike is wrecked and the rider rolls down the ground. How is that possible? Perfect timing and understanding of the laws of physics in the hard way is the key.
Notice how the rider separates from the bike just before it hits the car and how it crouches its way to the mattress. That, together with the exact 60mph speed is the only thing that’s known…the rest is equipment and a lot of training.
I can’t believe the guy actually know on which side are the spectators that got a closer eye on his stunt.
Clint Ewing has successfully attempted a Guinness World Record earlier this year by riding a distance of 200 ft. (60.96 m) through a tunnel of fire at Universal City, Los Angeles, USA. NBC TV was there to get the attempt on tape so that’s how we’re sharing the video with you.
Looks like Disney Paris is going through their stunt men and women like little croissants. The Disney park in Paris is looking for a motorcycle stunt man or woman to play in the Action show "Moteurs... Action ! Stunt Show Spectacular" in their Movies Theme park.
Having seen the show a couple of times, it’s impressive, and you’re going to have to really be able to really control your motorcycle if you plan to play with The Mouse. It’s not a couple of wheelies and stoppies. Have a look at the video below, and you can see why.
They’re looking for someone who has real experience with motorcycles, but also with cars. The role is very physical, so you need to be in shape, and need to be able to respect the strict security rules. They are also looking for that someone to have an artist sole and team spirit. Remember, it’s entertainment!
If you’re interested, and you’re between 18 and 35 years old, you can apply on-line. Disney can provide you with accommodation. It will help if you speak French, but it’s not a must.
