It appears Ford is taking extra measures to ensure its new 2015 F-150 will withstand the test of time and unfavorable weather conditions, including harsh sunlight. The automaker has announced its practices for testing both interior and exterior parts, and it’s rather interesting.

A majority of testing took place at Ford’s own Central Lab, where individual parts were subjected to a Thermatron. Like a scene from an old Sci-Fi film, the Thermatron blasts the parts with UV rays over an extended timeframe, simulating five years of sun exposure in a fraction of the time.

Ford is paying a lot of attention to the F-150’s interior in terms of its anti-glare properties. Washed out gauges, infotainment screen, and reflective materials on the dash have all been eliminated – preventing the driver from getting shot in the eye with a beam of sun reflecting off a chrome trim piece.

Special attention is also being paid to the exterior badges. A quick look at any mid- to late-2000s F-Series truck will reveal Ford had serious issues with its badges fading. Ford says it tested all its exterior badges under some 3,000 hours of sun-like conditions, along with temperatures as cold as -40 degrees Celsius followed by a steam bath of 100 degrees Celsius. That’s serious stuff.

With the latest game in the Forza universe, Forza Horizon 2 , launching at the end of the month and a brand new demo for the gaming coming next Tuesday, it seemed like a great time to talk about the full car list. Over the last several weeks there have been small releases of cars, but now we have the entire roster, and it is a pretty large one. Microsoft promised more than 200 cars, and we are rolling into the game with 210.

Some of the big names on this list we already knew about like the Lamborghini Huracán , Local Motors Rally Fighter and the McLaren P1 , but the last announcement brought a few special surprises. If you like the off-road scene, you can bomb around in a Land Rover Defender 90 ; for the supercar fans, they have the return of the Ferrari F40 and (my personal favorite) the 1966 Ford GT40 MkII . Oh yeah, they have the Lamborghini Veneno as well.

The entire car list this year is pretty incredible, with five machines from Alfa Romeo , every Corvette ZR1 (and ZR-1) ever created, and no less than 15 Ferraris. They also have seven different Lambos, a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and the Koenigsegg Agera . Seriously, there is something here for everyone. They even have a Honda Civic CRX Mugen from 1984. With a large Italian-style countryside to frolic around, this looks to be shaping up as one of the best games in the series. Oh man, they have the Aston Martin DB5 and Vanquish too!

You can pick up your copy of the new game starting September 30, 2014 on Xbox One and Xbox 360. To see a full list of the cars, check after the break. They are sorted in alphabetical order by brand for your convenience.

University of Texas fans can now get their jollies with this UT-branded edition Chevrolet Silverado . The truck is decked out in Sunset Orange Metallic paint and features prominent Texas Longhorn logos above the rear tires and on the tailgate. Onlookers and fans of other teams will have no doubt which college football team this Chevy’s owner is for.

The special edition truck will be sold nationwide for an extra $795 on select Silverado trim levels, but the real story is that Chevrolet is its second year of a multi-year contract with the University of Texas as a sponsor for the school’s athletic program. “There is no more appropriate place to showcase the stronger, smarter, more capable Chevrolet Silverado than in the heart of truck country,” says Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet director of Truck Marketing.

Chevy is also the official truck of Bevo, the Texas Longhorns’ mascot. A Silverado HD gets the honors of hauling Bevo’s trailer around from game to game, all over the country.

As for the University of Texas edition Silverado, the package can only be ordered on two- or four-wheel-drive Double Cab trucks with the LT or LTZ trim package; or the larger Crew Cab version in LTZ trim. The truck also must be ordered with the Texas Edition Package.

In the wild-and-crazy world of the automotive enthusiast, there are all shapes, sizes and manners of ways to have fun. You can climb up a mountain at 3 mph in a modified Jeep , you can blast across the dessert at insane speeds in a Baja truck , or you can fling a small roadster like the Miata at your local autocross. Despite all of this, there is still one true “enthusiast” machine that stands above all; the sports coupe.

Two doors of sexy, fast, and exciting have long defined the term sports car . There have been many great coupes over the decades, but it seems to me that now is about the best time in our history to be a lover of the coupe .

To celebrate this pinnacle of fun and performance I have gathered together a quick list of what I think are five of the best sports coupes that exist today. As always, make sure you hit those comments when you get done reading. Let me know what I got right, what I got wrong, and what I was missing. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

If there was ever any doubt why James Bond loves Aston Martins so much, these Vanquish Carbon Edition models will quell all of those misgivings. The British automaker finally pulled the covers off of its latest special edition creation only days after it dropped a teaser promoting its arrival. While I do think that Aston Martin needs to time its teasers better, I’m not complaining about what came out of it.

The Vanquish Carbon Edition is a thing of beauty and if you want to be really technical about it, there are actually two versions of this bad-boy. There’s a coupe and a convertible version, each of which can be dressed in either black or white. Pulling off a black or white car isn’t easy, but the Vanquish has all the sexiness it needs to wear these colors and look good doing so.

I’m not saying that I’m going to buy one as soon as it’s available, but there’s nothing wrong with staring at them with longing eyes, right?

America’s original pony car will turn 50 in 2014, and Ford is celebrating the monumental birthday by taking its maiden voyage overseas. The 2015 Ford Mustang will find its way into right-hand-drive markets, such as England, Japan and Australia. Moreover, for the first time in the Mustang’s history, England and Australia studios will aid in the design of the new-generation muscle car. Add that to the fact that the 2015 Mustang will receive independent rear suspension for the first time ever, with exception of the Cobra version a decade ago, and the Mustang suddenly becomes a hot topic among enthusiasts.

With such dramatic changes in the geographical availability of the Mustang, as well as the move away from the cheaper live axle, not much else has to change in order for this new-generation Mustang to find its new niche in the 2015 model year. That being said, expect the updated muscle car to get a radical redesign while still staying true to its overall look and style.

Also, for the first time, the Mustang is offered with an EcoBoost engine and a series of new technologies that will push it on top on the market.

Updated 09/12/2014: Ford released mileage figures for the all new-generation Mustang, and the bad news is that the new model delivers worse fuel economy than the model it replaces. The 2015 Mustang GT delivers 15 mpg city, 19 mpg combined and 25 mpg highway when equipped with the manual or automatic transmission. The V-6 model delivers 19 mpg city, 22 mpg combined and 28 mpg highway when mated to a manual gearbox, while the automatic-equipped V-6 gets a 2-mpg boost in the city and a 1-mpg boost in the combined rating. The new Mustang EcoBoost delivers 22 mpg city, 26 mpg combined and 31 mpg highway with the manual version, and 21 mpg city, 25 mpg combined and 32 mpg highway with the automatic gearbox.

It’s no secret that carbon fiber is one of the latest breakthrough materials that provides a high-strength, low-weight solution to nearly any problem. Today it is used in making body panels, support bracing, and even entire monocoque chassis. But now, companies are developing complete one-piece carbon-fiber wheels. Jay Leno takes a look at Carbon Revolution, a company that is on the brink of releasing its carbon-fiber wheels to the marketplace, including to an undisclosed OEM automaker. Yep, soon we’ll see a mainstream automaker release a vehicle rolling on a set of carbon-fiber wheels.

Brett Gass, Executive Director for Carbon Revolution stopped by Jay’s garage to show off the new wheels. Weighing in at roughly 15 pounds, the carbon-fiber wheels weigh an average of five pounds less than a set of lightweight aluminum wheels normally found of today’s sports cars. Gass also elaborates on how his wheel is certified by the German government to pass all safety and strength requirements.

To test the wheels, Jay, Gass, and a group of friends head out to Willow Springs Raceway in a 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 RS . Besides a sideways slip into the dirt by Jay, the carbon fiber-shod Porsche holds the road. The group of guys talk about how standard, lightweight aluminum wheels flex, while the carbon-fiber rims don’t. The premise seems a little far-fetched to me that a novice driver in a borrowed car can feel the aluminum wheels flex, though I don’t doubt the benefits of lighter wheels. Either way, it’s an interesting look at the future of wheel design and construction.

The mid-engined Porsche Cayman was launched in 2005. Essentially a coupe version of the Boxster , the Cayman has become increasingly popular with customers as a more affordable and balanced proposition to the range-topping 911 . The first-generation coupe came with 2.7-, 2.9-, and 3.4-liter, flat-six engines with as many as 321 ponies and 273 pound-feet of torque. A facelifted Cayman was introduced in early 2009, while the redesigned model arrived in showrooms in 2013, this time powered by 275-, 325- and 340-horsepower engines. As we’re moving closer to 2015, the Germans are preparing a mid-cycle refresh for the still-new Cayman.

As with most Porsche facelifts, the Cayman will only receive minor exterior and interior changes. However, more important things are set to occur under the rear hood, where an array of four-cylinder engines are expected to show up. Details are thin as of September 2014, but Porsche is keen on improving fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions across the lineup and it seems both the Cayman and the Boxster will lead the way.

Ever wondered what Ferrari would look like if it became, to quote former CEO Luca di Montezemolo, “American?" Well, Jalopnik writer and artist Jason Torchinsky did just that, creating a series of hilarious Ferrari-based renderings that show a number of models receiving America’s unabashed imprint.

The F12 Brougham and the FF Sportwagen could actually pass of as legitimate Ferraris if you’re looking at them while in an inebriated state, but that’s the extent of it. The rest of the renderings take a turn for the insanely hilarious. There’s the 458 Montana SUV that looks like a moustachioed 458 on PEDs; the 458 Eagle with “vertical stabilizing fins” and a Pontiac Firebird-inspired eagle hood graphic; the 458 Rebele with welded doors and General Lee-inspired livery; and the three-wheeled Florida T with an exposed supercharger and a meth-dispenser system.

But the coup de grâce is the limited edition LaFerrari Van that might actually make for a pretty decent family car if not for the fact that it isn’t real.

Well done, Jason. Well done. Somewhere Ferrari executives are typing up a cease and desist letter.

Rumors about the Mercedes AMG GT started as early as 2012, and for a short period of time, it was believed that the new SLS AMG would be called the SLC. Obviously, this is not the case, as Mercedes and AMG have chosen the GT name for the sports car that comes to replace the aging SLS AMG as the company’s halo rig. Essentially the baby brother of the SLS, the AMG GT comes as a new competitor for the Porsche 911 just as we’re heading toward 2015. Compared to the SLS, the Mercedes-AMG GT is lighter and slimmer, making use of even more carbon fiber and aluminum. In a shocking twist of SLS insult, the GT is devoid of gullwing doors.

Less dramatic as far as design and power go, the GT also comes with a cheaper price tag compared to its brother. Read on for the full details surrounding Stuttgart’s latest road-going "silver arrow".

Updated 09/12/2014: Mercedes unveiled a new video showing the new AMG GT in action at the "Circuit of the Americas." Enjoy!
