We’ve told you about the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III the automaker took to the Pikes Peak hill climb in June 2014, but now we bring you this rather thrilling video. Strapped to driver Greg Tracy’s roll cage, the camera records his record-breaking hill climb time of just 9:08.188. That’s the fasted time ever recorded for an all-electric car and the second fastest time of the entire event.

It’s amazing to watch just how quickly the MiEV Evolution III accelerates and handles around those corners. Then again, it’s not surprising considering the vehicle’s four electric motors kick out 611 horsepower. Each of those four motors are mounted at each wheel and help power the car through corners without any wheel spin. It’s part of the Mitsubishi ’s Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel-drive system.

What’s more, the MiEV Evolution III had the advantage of not losing power as it climbed over 5,000 feet during its nine-minute run, unlike gasoline-powered vehicles. Also helping its case is a lightweight tube chassis and a wind tunnel-optimized body that helps cut through the air and provide substantial downforce at higher speeds.

Keep an eye on the speedometer as Tracy accelerates out of the hairpin corners. It’s amazing to watch the digits skip by, nearly counting by 10 as the scenery blurs by.

Launched for 2005, the Tucson compact crossover was Hyundai’s answer to the Toyota RAV4 , Honda CR-V , and the Ford Escape . The Tucson did surprisingly well its first year, selling over 60,000 units in the U.S. alone. The small crossover slotted under Hyundai’s larger Santa Fe and Veracruz crossovers. Sharing its platform with the Elantra sedan and Kia Sportage crossover, the Tucson proved to be a decent vehicle for moving people and their stuff. Hyundai launched the Tucson’s second generation for 2010 that included a more stylized look and more efficient engines. The 2015 Tucson is part of Hyundai’s latest experiment with hydrogen fuel cell technology. The new hydrogen system totally replaces the Tucson’s gasoline engine with a power system that runs only on hydrogen, and only emits water vapor and heat as an exhaust.

While the 2015 Tucson isn’t Hyundai’s first attempt at hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it’s Hyundai’s first successful attempt. The Korean automaker is currently leasing Tucson FCV in select areas of California, including Los Angeles. For $2,999 down and $499 a month, owners can drive their Tucson FCV without the cost of refueling, as Hyundai is including free hydrogen fill-ups at its ‘At Your Service’ maintenance centers.

There was plenty of new and interesting things to climb the famous hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, but perhaps nothing else hits closer to home than the iconic American pony car in its latest iteration; the 2015 Ford Mustang . With it still months away from hitting dealer showrooms and with no official reviews gracing the glossy pages of magazines or the Interwebz, the Mustang is still a dark horse in terms of third-party information.

But we get just a little closer with this video from Ford of a Mustang GT Coupe barreling up the hay-lined hill. Professional driver Paul Swift (a fitting last name, huh?) takes the wheel of the ‘Stang. Unfortunately, the 5.0-liter’s exhaust is masked by the video’s musical selection. There are a few instances where some burble cuts through, but we’ll wait to reserve judgment on its sound. Then again, Mustangs have always managed to sound amazing, so it’s unlikely we’ll be disappointed.

The video also gives us a good look at the manual transmission’s shifter. It appears to have nice, short throws that are easy to manipulate. We also get a decent look at the interior and its all-new dashboard, and form-fitting Recaro seats.

Sadly, the video is less than a minute long, but there are several good scenes and sequences within. Ford also neglects to publish the Mustang’s time, leaving us to wonder how well it did in what is likely its first-ever public racing event.

Imagine if you could have a full video-game-style heads-up display in your car. Every detail from speed, track layout, and other pertinent information could be displayed in real time without you needing to take your eyes off the road. Imagine if you could even have your Forza Motorsports-style optimal racing line, complete with braking zone indication presented to you on your windshield in a form of augmented reality. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Well it appears that Jaguar is working on bringing this exact technology to life.

More than the already amazing feats we discussed, Jaguar wants to push it so far as to offer a "ghost car" display so that when on a track you can focus on racing yourself or maybe even a friend’s previous best time. It is the ultimate combination of video games and real life.

If that wasn’t futuristic enough, Jaguar is working on a tracking technology that will control the system through gestures and eye movements so you never need to mess with button and switches. If properly implemented this form of input could be quicker, more accurate and less distracting than traditional tactile switches.

A prototype of the Ferrari LaFerrari XX was recently spotted putting in some test laps around Ferrari’s famed Monza race track. It certainly looks the part of an ultra exclusive supercar, right down to its incredibly dynamic look and throaty growl that’s music our ears.

The three-minute video gives us a good look at how far Ferrari has progressed in the development of the LaFerrari XX, considered as the pinnacle of Ferrari engineering. Don’t blame us for being extra giddy about watching the LaFerrari XX in action. We’ve been waiting a long time for a video of the supercar putting in one test lap after another and this video certainly didn’t disappoint!

The first two minutes were nothing short of an eargasm. But at around the 2:20 mark, we witnessed something we never thought we’d see: the right rear wheel of the LaFerrari XX completely buckles, presumably due to some kind of suspension mishap. Watching in slow motion is even more incredible considering you see the top half of the wheel pop outside of the arches and resting diagonally while the other three wheels continue to rotate.

Supercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari XX are always subjected to extreme testing, the likes of which normal vehicles aren’t treated to. Now we know the reason for that.

The wait for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally almost over. Okay, so the muscle car isn’t going to hit dealerships for another few months, but production is expected to begin in a few days!

Mustang6g forum member "RisingForce" posted on the site a new bulletin indicating that Ford will commence production of the 2015 Mustang on July 14, 2014. That’s this coming Monday!

Equally important is the September 9, 2014 "OKTB" date, which basically means that by then, the 2015 Mustang will "okay to buy." That now gives us a specific date to look forward to after months of waiting to see when Ford was going to release its latest pride and joy.

As for the Mustang Convertible , the reported start of production will be September 15, 2014 with an OKTB date of October 27, 2014. Those dates are a lot sooner than what we initially expected, but that’s neither here nor there.

What’s important are the concrete dates of production. Now that they’ve been announced, we can now prepare our finances in time to make a purchase of the muscle car.

The Mazda RX-7 was introduced in 1978 as replacement for the Savanna RX-7. The sports car joined the company’s lineup as the second vehicle to feature a Wankel rotary engine, being sold alongside the Cosmo luxury coupe. Initially powered by a 1.1-liter unit, the first-generation RX-7 received a larger, 1.3-liter engine rated at 133 horsepower later in its life. In 1983, two years before the second-gen model was introduced, a turbo version of the 1.1-liter delivered as much as 163 ponies. A redesigned model followed in 1986. The 1.1-liter engine was dropped, while the 1.3-liter version received a turbocharger of its own. Power ranged between 146 and 202 horsepower, although the latter was only offered between 1989 and 1991. 1992 marked the introduction of the third-generation model and a hefty update to the already proven 13B rotary engine. Output now began from 252 horsepower and went up to 276 in the third-generation’s final years. The RX-7 was axed in 2002, as Mazda was working on the RX-8. As we move into 2015 and toward a completely redesigned Miata MX-5 , more and more rumors about Mazda’s plans to revive the RX-7 nameplate as a successor to the RX-8 and develop a new, high-performance rotary engine are starting to surface.

Now here’s an interesting turn of events in the luxury car world: Former Infiniti chief Johan de Nysschen has been named global president of Cadillac . The man credited with building Audi into a powerhouse will take over as president of GM’s luxury division on August 1st. De Nysschen’s appointment comes as Bob Ferguson, who had led Cadillac since 2012, will return to Washington as senior vice president of global public policy to help improve GM’s image in the wake of the company’s much-discussed ignition switch recalls.

The 54-year-old de Nysschen joins a brand that has enjoyed tremendous success last year. Cadillac sales rose nearly 22 percent in 2013, while the ATS was the North American Car of the Year and the CTS was named MotorTrend car of the year. In 2014, however, Cadillac sales fell 2 percent through June, as GM struggled to build on last year’s momentum with brand-new vehicles, such as the ATS Coupe and the Escalade full-size SUV .

In spite of its recent success and the fact that it enjoys the strongest product lineup in decades, Cadillac still lags behind its German rivals as far as sales go. And this is exactly where Johan de Nysschen and its 21 years of experience with Audi and Infiniti will come in handy.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat SRT , the most powerful muscle car ever built, has just been certified as the fastest, factory-built muscle car ever created. In a test conducted by Dodge and supervised by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the Challenger Hellcat ran the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph. That makes the 707-horsepower Mopar exactly one second quicker than a stock 2014 Corvette Stingray with an automatic and enables its full on bragging rights at the drag strip.

But wait, there’s more! Chrysler didn’t stop at running the 1320 using the Challenger’s standard Pirelli P Zero tires, but equipped the coupe with drag radials and had another go. The run dropped to just 10.8 seconds at 126 mph, making the Hellcat SRT the first production muscle car to achieve a 10-second quarter-mile. To get an idea of what that means, the Hellcat is quicker than supercars such as the Saleen S7 , Ferrari Enzo , Nissan GT-R Track Pack and the McLaren F1. Sure, most of them are at least four years old, but the GT-R in question is a 2014 model. And beating the Track Pack on the drag strip is quite the achievement.

Unfortunately, Dodge has yet to release 0-to-60 mph acceleration data for the Challenger Hellcat SRT, and we’re dead curious to find out whether the sprint drops below the 3.5-second mark. If it does, customers will have a muscle car that’s quicker than the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and the Porsche 911 GT3 on their hands. How cool would that be?

As a quick reminder, the 2015 Challenger Hellcat SRT is powered by a supercharged, 6.2-liter, V-8 HEMI engine rated at 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant, which is the first factory supercharged HEMI, mates to either a six-speed manual transmission or a brand-new, TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic. This crazy, rubber-shredding beast is scheduled to hit the streets in the third quarter of 2014. Mustang and Camaro owners, save yourselves while you still can!

Mercedes ’ much-needed C-Class Convertible is inching closer to production as the Stuttgart-based company continues testing the cabriolet throughout Germany. Scheduled to break cover at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the 2015 C-Class Convertible will be the first drop-top in the model’s 21-year history.

Our spy photographers recently caught the cabriolet C-Class stretching its wheels on public roads for the third time since September 2013. Things haven’t change much since May 2014, when the prototype was spotted testing with the same camouflage pattern covering its body, but a few new details suggest development is well underway.

Once it hits dealerships, the C-Class Convertible will join its sedan and wagon siblings, while waiting for the AMG-prepped versions to arrive. And yes, at some point, the convertible will benefit from AMG treatment as well, including the brand’s newly developed, 4.0-liter, V-8 engine and the enormous amount of power that comes with it.
