Justin Wilson took the provisional pole position on the race track from Assen. Wilson overtook Simon Pagenaud of Team Australia with almost 0.9 seconds. They were followed closely by PKV Racing’s Tristan Gommendy.
Tristan Gommendy took the third place while Graham Rahal obtained the 4th position. Sebastien Bourdais was not so lucky this time due to the fact that he obtained the 6th place while Oriol Servia overtook him and placed his monopost on the 5th position for Forsythe team.
Will Power, Pagenaud’s team mate from Team Australia placed on the 7th position overtaking Minardi’s Robert Doornbos .
Alex Tagliani from Rocketsports team overtook Paul Tracy who closed the top 10 here at Assen.
Things are not looking too good for Bourdais who hopes for a victory at Assen. Justin Wilson showed him today that the fight is not over and he will have to show his best to win the Dutch Grand Prix. The French has an advantage of 53 points in front of Doornbos and with a victory at Assen he will secure his title. Maybe things are going to change tomorrow in the qualifying session and Bourdais will obtain a well-deserved pole position. But we shall see this tomorrow.
