Justin Wilson won his first race of the season in the Champ Car series at the Assen Grand Prix. The driver of RuSPORT team overtook the pole-sitter, Sebastien Bourdais,who finished on the 7th position due to a software glitch in the Power-to-Pass system that caused the pitlane speed limiter to kick in. Altough yesterday in the pre-qualifying session Sebastien Bourdais obtained the 6th place, today the French driver showed everyone that he took the things seriously, taking the pole position with a stunning time of 1:18.765s. Justin Wilson took the provisional pole position on the race track from Assen. Wilson overtook Simon Pagenaud of Team Australia with almost 0.9 seconds. They were followed closely by PKV Racing’s Tristan Gommendy. Tristan Gommendy took the third place while Graham Rahal obtained the 4th position. Bourdais closer to win his 4th Champ Car title


Sebastien Bourdais got a little help to win his 4th consecutive Champ Car Championship due to the fact that the officials cancelled the China and Phoenix races. Bourdais will race this weekend at the Bavaria Beer Champ Car Grand Prix of Holland at the Assen circuit, and for winning the race and the championship he has to outscore his main rival and the local hero Robert Doornbos by 15 points.
