Martin Tomczyk increased his chances to win the 2007 DTM title after he won the European Grand Prix, this weekend at Nurburgring. The Audi driver finished the race with an advantage of over 6 seconds in front the Mercedes driver Bruno Spengler, who got only the second place. This weekend will be a hot one for the current leader of the DTM championship, Mattias Ekström (Audi A4 Audi A4 DTM). Ekström will try to defend his lead in front of the the Mercedes Mercedes drivers such as Bernd Schneider and Bruno Spengler. The DTM travels now at Nürburgring where Mercedes has an advantage in front of Audi. After some exciting duels between Alexandre Prémat and Martin Tomczyk, Tomczyk find a way to overtake the 25 year old driver with just a few yards before crossing the finish line and won his first DTM race of the season.Due to its success of today, Martin Tomczyk is now the main rival in the battle for the tittle, with a difference of 8 points between him and the leader, Mattias Ekström. Timo Scheider got his first pole position in the DTM Championship after Audi dominated the qualifying session at Zandvoort.He obtained the result when there were only 10 remaining from the session.Audi obtained again the top five positions in on the grid for the second race running. Mika Hakkinen amazed everyone at the DTM race from Mugello.The Finn won the race after an amazing run, recovering from 15th place to the most wanted 1st. This represented the second victory of the season for Hakkinen. Mattias Ekstrom, the winner of the pole position a Mugello, finished the race on the second place with his Audi A4 DTM, being with 0.371 slower than Hakkinen. Audi dominated the first session of testing at Mugello, with its driver Martin Tomczyk who set the fastest lap time of 1:45.198 minutes.Tom Kristensen followed closely Tomczyk in his Audi A4 Audi A4 DTM.The difference between the 2 cars was only 0.3 seconds.Enough to make Martin Tomczyk the leader of the testing session. This weekend at Mugello, in Italy, at 30 km north of Florence is going to take place the 6th round of the 2007 Dtm Championship.So far, 5 different drivers won this race and is still a mystery who is going to be favourite in Italy. Bruno Spengler claimed the Norisring race from Nuremberg, winning with its AMG Mercedes Mercedes C-class. The 23-year old driver crossed the line in first place ahead Bernd Schneider, his team-mate from Mercedes . The success at the Norisring is the fifth DTM career win for Spengler, who also won this race last year. Spengler had beside him on the podium the Audi A4 driver Mattias Ekström.
