Kingfisher Airlines is dropping its sponsorship of Toyota’s Formula One team, by mutual agreement. Toyota released a statement in which it wished him well: "Toyota Motorsport GmbH has enjoyed a successful partnership with Kingfisher Airlines, collaborating on several promotional (...

Ralf Schumacher taking a Hiatus

Ralf Schumacher taking a Hiatus

The word is that Ralf Schumacher will shortly announce that he’s taking a year off from Formula One, but many are suggesting that the sabbatical is actually a swan song for his career. If true, the decision isn’t exactly voluntary. Schumacher hasn’t been able to find a ride for next season, even though the opening race is less than three months away. Schumacher did a test drive for the new Force India team earlier this month, after which is said that, “it could be (...)

“We had a number of options open to us and as always we want to make sure that we have the most competitive driver line-up and I think that Lewis and Heikki will be a formidable combination,” said Martin Whitmarsh. “Both enjoyed great rookie seasons in 2007 and share a genuine passion for winning and being the best. Heikki made a strong impression and Lewis’ performance so far has been outstanding and speaks for itself. I am confident that they will push each other on track and work well together off track.

McLaren can’t stop cheating

McLaren can't stop cheating

Fresh from the diversionary tactic of trying to get Renault tarred with the same brush that McLaren used to paint itself as dishonest, it turns out that McLaren can’t stop cheating. The FIA has determined that their 2008 car uses technical information McLaren stole from Ferrari. But, once again, the FIA is being soft. They’ve not banned McLaren, despite the warning issued when they stuck McLaren with a $100 million fine last year. It wasn’t just a (...

Martin Brundle asks the unanswered questions

Martin Brundle asks the unanswered questions

In a piece authored over the week-end for the London Times and TimesOnLine, Martin Brundle complained that the FIA’s decision against imposing a punishment on Renault for having McLaren information “made no sense” after the $100,000,000 dollar fine imposed on McLaren for stealing Ferrari information. But, he’s wrong. Here’s what he had to say: “The McLaren judgment is about negativity and suspicion of possible use of Ferrari information, but no real (...

FIA: Renault guilty, but no penalty

Without explaining its reasons – yet – the FIA World Motor Sport Council today found Renault guilty of obtaining secret information from McLaren-Mercedes. The case centered on information purloined by a McLaren employee as he left that company to join his new employer, Renault. Renault has self-reported itself to both the FIA and McLaren when it discovered that the employee had brought floppy discs with McLaren information when he joined Renault. The FIA announced that the reasoning (...
