Ferrari has announced that they have extended their contract with Felipe Massa until the end of the 2010 season. This announcement ends the speculation that the 26 years Brazilian driver could move to Toyota next season to make room for Fernando Alonso if the Spaniard split with McLaren after this year.

Jean Todt dismissed all this speculations last month and insisted that the team were committed to Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, and now he proved it by extending Massa’s contract.

Massa, has been contracted to the Italian squad since 2001, but was initially placed with the Sauber team until 2006 when he joined Ferrari, replacing Rubens Barrichello and partnering with Michael Schumacher in the German’s last Formula One season. To date, he has taken part in 34 Grands Prix for the team, winning five times and scoring 16 podium places. Last year he finished third in the Driver Championship accumulating 80 points. This year whit 86 points he will finish fourth no matter what position he finishes the Interlagos circuit.

Massa’s team mate Kimi Raikkonen joined the team this season on a three-year contract, covering 2007, 2008 and 2009.
