Ferrari opened today the practice session at Magny-Cours.The fight between the 2 drivers from the Italian automaker was a close one,but Raikkonen overtook Massa by 0,06 seconds.
At Mclaren things were not so good.Fernando Alonso was slower than the 2 drivers from Ferrari by almost a second.Meanwhile his team-mate Lewis Hamilton had some problems with his monopost who glided to a halt at the side of the track in Turn 5.
Hamilton was not the only driver who had problems,it looks like it wasn’t a good day for most of the drivers: Coulthard went on briefly in Turn 12, Alex Wurz got off the track. This also wasn’t a good day for Spyker because Christijan Albers missed the apex in Turn 7.
Nick Heidfeld was 7th on 1m 16.338s. Robert Kubica was 9th on his return to cockpit duty. Wurz lapped in 1m 16.407s, Kubica in 1m 16.441s.
Jenson Button was 14th, close behind his team mate with 1m 17.047s, with another six cars hard on his heels. These were led by Toro Rosso’s Scott Speed (1m 17.103s), Super Aguri’s Anthony Davidson (1m 17.166s), Toyota’s Ralf Schumacher (1m 17.168s), the Renaults of Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen (1m 17.226s and 1m 17.348s), and Red Bull’s Mark Webber (1m 17.435s).
