It is official! Spyker announced on Thursday that Sakon Yamamoto, the Japanese driver will take the vacant seat left by Christijan Albers and will become Adrian Sutil’s new teammate for the remaining seven races of the 2007 F1 season.
The 25 year-old driver will make its debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix next month. He said in the press conference that he is very pleased to get the opportunity to race in the Formula 1 again and that he plans to do his best to help the Dutch team to achieve their objectives.
Collin Kolles, Spyker team principal, said that the young Japanese driver represents one of the most promising drivers who showed his potential in the 2006 races. He also said that Sakon’s experience on the circuits will be a big advantage for the Dutch team.
The announcement made today reveal the fact that Markus Winkelhock didn’t do a good job for the Dutch team at the European Grand Prix.In our opinion Winkelhock did quite a good job there but let’s hope that the Dutch officials know what they are doing.
