Kimi Raikkonen obtained his first podium finish since the Bahrain succes, on 14th of April. When he arrived in France he had seven points behind Brazilian team-mate Felipe Massa and with the media highlighting his struggle as replacement to Ferrari’s retired seven times world champion Michael Schumacher. Ferrari has finally won the F1 race from Magny-Cours overtaking with success the principal rival, McLaren. Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Masa finished the race in front of Lewis Hamilton, the big surprise of the season. Further back Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, Bmw Saubers’s drivers, grabbed another nine points for their team with fourth and fifth places . After a dramatic hour of qualification session, Felipe Massa obtained the pole position at Magny-Cours.Ferrari’s driver recorded the best lap of 1:15.034 overtaking Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton’s final run of the session made him improve his time but this wasn’t enough to obtain the pole position ahead of Massa. Kimi Raikkonen has been right on the pace all weekend long but was two-tenth off in qualifying indicating that he may be carrying a little more fuel. (...)

BMW Sauber’s driver Nick Heidfeld could miss this weekend’s race at Magny-Cours, after complaining of back pain during today’s practice sessions for the French Grandprix. Heidfeld pain was first spotted at Silverstone but aggravated in recent testing. “I stopped early because I wanted to save my back,” “Last week at the Silverstone test I had some problems. Ferrari opened today the practice session at Magny-Cours.The fight between the 2 drivers from the Italian automaker was a close one,but Raikkonen overtook Massa by 0,06 seconds. At Mclaren things were not so good.Fernando Alonso was slower than the 2 drivers from Ferrari Ferrari by almost a second.Meanwhile his team-mate Lewis Hamilton had some problems with his monopost who glided to a halt at the side of the track in Turn 5.
