After Joe Gibbs Racing announced that they will switch GM to join Toyota from the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series the manufacturer, who won more Nextel Cups and races than any other competitor, expressed its dissapointment. This happened due to the fact that for 16 years the collaboration between GM and Joe Gibbs Racing was absolutely perfect.

Casey Mears will switch from the No. 25 team to the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team in 2008 and will leave his place to his new team mate Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Mears is going to race the No. 5 car that has been used by Kyle Busch for the last 2 years. The 29 years old driver is going to collaborate with Alan Gustafson, the winner of four Nextel Cups since his first season as crew chief in 2005.

It’s official! Jacques Villeneuve, the Canadian driver, announced that he will debut in the Nascar for Bill Davis Racing this year.
Villeneuve said that he took fast this decision to join Bill Davis Racing. The driver explained that his main reason for choosing this team was that they are currently the leader of the championship ( who wouldn’t choose a team that is the leader of the championship..? ) .

The Canadian driver, Jacques Villeneuve, completed on Monday his first day of Nascar testing at Chicagoland Speedway, for the Bill Davis Racing team.
The ex-champion in the Formula 1 drove a black Toyota Tundra with the No. 27, a number his father used to used in his glory days when he was competing for the Italian team Ferrrari. Helmut Marko, the man responsable with Red Bull driver’s programme, said that Scott Speed will be supported by the famous energy drinks company to drive in the Nascar championship.
Speed entered the US Red Bull Driver search programme in 2003 and since then he had been a Red Bull driver. The American driver left Scuderia Torro Rosso F1 team after he had a fight with former boss Franz Tost in the European Grand Prix. Kurt Busch scored his second win of the season in the delayed 3M Performance 400 race at Michigan International Speedway. In this way Buch increased his chances of making the Chase for the Nextel Cup.
The officials started the race under yellow flag but the red flag was shown due to the heavy fog. After 32 minutes the race finally got underway. For only the second time since 1997, a NASCAR Cup race has been rained out on two consecutive days. The 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway, which had been rained out on Sunday was again rained out on Monday.

NASCAR’s Nextel Cup race at Michigan, the 3M Performance 400 will begin Monday at noon Eastern Time after the scheduled Sunday race was rained out. From Saturday evening through Sunday, Southern Michigan experienced constant rain. There was a brief lull that lured out the jet dryers, but they were chased away by a downpour that resumed the day of rain.
