The Canadian driver,Bruno Spengler, set the quickest time at the Norisring circuit winning the pole position for its team,Mercedes-Benz.
“This was the most difficult pole position of the year, because conditions were so extraordinary”said the driver after finishing the race.
Mika Hakkinen,the other driver from the Mercedes-Benz team was with 0.2 seconds slower than Spengler.Bernd Schneider and Gary Paffett finished on the 3rd and respectively 4th place.They succeeded in putting Mercedez-Benz on the first two grids rows.
Martin Tomczyk,one of the Audi’s drivers failed to make it in the top ten,and finished on the 11th place.
“I am really happy, because today, qualifying was really difficult. Initially, I didn’t have a clue, as I never drove at Norisring in the rain before. Throughout the three sessions, the car got betterand better. The team has done a great job and therefore I am really happy with this pole position.” said the winner of the pole position.
