After some exciting duels between Alexandre Prémat and Martin Tomczyk,
Tomczyk find a way to overtake the 25 year old driver with just a few yards before crossing the finish line and won his first DTM race of the season.Due to its success of today, Martin Tomczyk is now the main rival in the battle for the tittle, with a difference of 8 points between him and the leader, Mattias Ekström. Bruno Spengler is the third competitor for the title with 26 points.
The battle for the 3rd place was hard for Bruno Spengler who was overtaken by Mattias Ekström (Red Bull Audi A4 DTM) and Timo Scheider (Top Service Audi A4 DTM) and obtained only the 5th place.
The 40 years old Christian Abt, who will end his career at the end of the season finished on the 6th place, after Spengler, with his Playboy Audi A4 DTM.
The winner of the last race from Mugello, Mika Häkkinen failed to repeat the success finishing on the 7th place. Alexandros Margaritis managed to place its Mercedes-Benz on the 8th place.
Gary Paffett (Mercedes) managed to overtake Mike Rockenfeller (S line Audi A4 DTM) who closed the top 10. Bernd Schneider (Mercedes) was overtaken by Jamie Green (Mercedes) and managed to obtain only the 12th place. Paul di Resta (Mercedes) didn’t do a good race.He was overtaken by Markus Winkelhock (Audi A4 DTM) but overtook Mathias Lauda (Mercedes) with a difference of almost 16 seconds. Lucas Luhr (Philips Audi A4 DTM) closed the grid with a difference 42 seconds between him and the leader Martin Tomczyk.
The next DTM race will be at Nürburgring from 31st of August until 2nd of September
