Video: Rally driver crashes his car after fan 'moons' him

One of the things that separates us mortal drivers from the really, really good ones that race cars for a living is their innate ability to completely zone out while they’re behind the wheel of their vehicles. Call it concentration or tunnel vision or whatever kind of description you can think of, these people are paid to drive for a reason.

That being said, rally driver, Mark Tapper, should have known better. While running Rally New Zealand on board his Mitsubishi Lancer , Tapper momentarily lost his concentration when some piss drunk fan decided to give Tapper quite a peep show by pulling down his pants and flashing his posterior for Tapper to behold. Distracted and surprised, Tapper ended up rolling his car and ending his otherwise stellar race.

You should have known better, buddy. Even if somebody pulls down their pants in front of you.

Sometimes, rally drivers can’t do anything when the camera rolls and calls ’action.’ I’m just watching it all over again. Its very distracting and disappointed as well,.

I can’t believe to that person who moons the rally driver! I agree with you papy_chulo,rally drivers needs a lot of focus and concentration!

The security should not allow the fans to get near on the race track. It really needs a lot of concentration for the driver so that they could focus on the race and just a single distraction, it will ruined everything!

that incident was so shocking..

yeah, when the driver looses his concentration for even in one second it could ruined his whole game.

Well he’s now Staged behind Collin and Richard Burns on the great Rally stage in the sky. Where the call is always "6 (insert direction), 60 straight and over crest to finish". RIP James

Very sad, but comes with this type of racing. Thoughts for the families!

Hehe sounds like something Peter would do.

Gee, what a terrible accident..too bad for the driver.

That was an unfortunate rally race... dang that fan... he lead his idol into accident.

hmm maybe i can agree with that. In rallying, the driver’s focus and attention should only on the road.

Well, that kind of stupidity by the fan should not be taken seriously because this is the driver’s responsibility to drive carefully. Specially he’s on competition. He cannot blame the fans for doing that.
