Marcus Gronholm showed everybody that the title is not lost. Gronholm won this weekend the New Zealand Rally after a close fight with Citroen’s driver, Sebastien Loeb. Marcus won the rally by just 0.3 seconds in front of the French driver.

For the sixth year in a row, Sébastien Loeb, Daniel Elena and Citroën were given a standing ovation by the crowd at the finish ceremony in front of the celebrated Porta Nigra gate in Trier. The 10th round of the 2007 World Rally Championship kicked off in typically mixed ADAC Rallye Deutschland weather. Crews were greeted by overcast skies, wind, rain… and even a few rays of sunshine; all the traditional ingredients of this difficult event! Citroën C4 WRC crews Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Dani Sordo/Marc Martí both took part in the usual pre-start test.

TBP-Ford’s new Focus RS World Rally Car scored a one-two finish on its debut in Finland today as the team stretched its lead in the FIA World Rally Championship to 40 points. In winning Rally Finland for the seventh time in eight years, Marcus Grönholm and Timo Rautiainen entered the record books as the first drivers to win a full WRC event on seven occasions. The OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team was already able to turn the regained motivation into a good result at the shakedown to the “Neste Oil Rally Finland”. On their fastest turn on the 3,76 kilometres long course the OMV duo marked eighth-best time by 2:07,0 minutes. OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team made an announce that the Belgian driver Francois Duval has been nominated to race the second Xsara WRC in this year’s ADAC Rallye Deutschland that will take place between 17th and 19th of August.

As part of its build-up to the future Rally of Finland (between 2nd and 5th of August) Citroen Sport team took the decision to enter a C4 WRC car for Dani Sordo and Marc Marti into the O.K Auto Ralli. The rally was extremely instructive for the team but only in the first part because in the second they were forced to retire the cause beeing a technical problem.
